In this study, we investigated the effect of different extraction techniques for recovery bioactive secondary metabolites from Aspilia africana (A. africana). Subcritical water (SWE) at temperatures (SWE140, SWE160, SWE180), and a combination heating agitation (HA) were compared with conventional solvent using ethanol (80%, soxhlet). The extracts characterized total phenolic contents (TPC), Total flavonoid (TFC), compounds HPLC-UV–VIS. antioxidant activity by DPPH assay anticancer against...

Artina pectinata (Comb pen shell, CPS) is a high-protein source that contains variety of essential amino acids. Subcritical water hydrolysis (SWH) was used to recover acids from the posterior adductor muscle (PAM), anterior (ADM), and mantle. The temperatures ranged 120 °C 200 °C, pressure time were 3 MPa 30 min, respectively. Further characterization hydrolysates performed ascertain acid profiles biofunctional properties. contained more free than untreated samples. Antioxidant activity...

Summary This study investigated the effect of sequential extraction techniques and pretreatment methods in enhancing recovery high‐value products from spent coffee ground. Supercritical carbon dioxide (SC‐CO 2 ) deoiling was performed to recover non‐polar lipids, subcritical water (SCW) hydrolysis deoiled ground (SCG) conducted involving with ultrasound (US‐SCG), sample particle size reduction (PS‐SCG). SCW temperature, solid/liquid mixing ratio, constant pressure residence time were studied...

This study aims to compare the biofunctional properties of wild cultivated ginseng and extracts obtained by subcritical water extraction. The compounds that contribute were analyzed different conditions (100°C/40 bar–240°C/90 bar). When temperature was increased, ginsneg showed high phenolic concentrations (200°C/70 bar–220°C/80 bar), increased antioxidant activity, highest protein content after reaching 180°C. Moreover, total sugar crude saponin at 160°C. No significant difference observed...

The safety of a pedestrian crossing may depend on infrastructure, vehicular and traffic characteristics. This research portrays the challenges caused by vehicles crosswalk in City Kigali. Through observing stopping drivers events, study aims to evaluate driver’s behaviors against flow parameters. 10 collection sites were finally selected purposively randomly suit observations for data recording. A total 10,259 events recorded within 280 hours. Statistical analysis, tests Binary...

Aspilia africana C. D. Adams (A. africana) is used in African folk medicine as a wound healing remedy. In this study, the potential anti-inflammatory effects of A. were investigated lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated RAW264.7 macrophages. The cytotoxicity was assessed RAW264.7, human embryonic kidney 293, and HaCaT cells using WST-1 assay. results indicated that concentrations up to 400 μg/mL safe for all cell lines studied. Further analyses, such nitric oxide (NO) assay, quantitative...
