This is a retrospective single-center study of 417 consecutive patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) admitted to Jaber Al-Ahmad Hospital in Kuwait between February 24, 2020 and May 2020. In total, 39.3% were asymptomatic, 41% symptomatic mild/moderate symptoms, 19.7% the intensive care unit (ICU). Most common symptoms cohort fever (34.3%) dry cough (32.6%) while shortness breath was reported (75.6%) ICU admissions. Reported complications requiring admission included Sepsis...

COVID-19 is challenging healthcare preparedness, world economies, and livelihoods. The infection death rates associated with this pandemic are strikingly variable in different countries. To elucidate discrepancy, we analyzed 2431 early spread SARS-CoV-2 sequences from GISAID. We estimated continental-wise admixture proportions, assessed haplotype block estimation, tested for the presence or absence of strains' recombination. Herein, identified 1010 unique missense mutations seven clusters....

Background: Middle ear (ME) pressure regulation has been suggested as a physiological mechanism that maintains equilibrium between the ME and ambient environment. This would be based on complex sensorineural reflex loop composed of mechanoreceptors, an integrative center, efferent neural pathways. Our aim was to demonstrate hypoxic conditions, which inhibit mechanoreceptors in general, similarly participate inhibition opening Eustachian tube (ET), thus, suggest such receptors are involved...
