Abstract Background Recent evidence has suggested an association between postoperative non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and increased operation-specific complications. This study aimed to determine the safety profile following gastrointestinal surgery across a multicentre setting in UK. Methods was carried out during 2-week interval September–October 2013. Consecutive adults undergoing elective or emergency resection were included. The powered detect 10 per cent increase major...

Abstract Background and Objectives Nucleic acid amplification testing (NAT), in blood services context, is used for the detection of viral parasite nucleic acids to reduce transfusion‐transmitted infections. This project reviewed NAT screening donations globally. Materials Methods A survey on usage, developed by International Society Blood Transfusion Working Party Transfusion‐transmitted Infectious Diseases (ISBT WP‐TTID), was distributed through ISBT WP‐TTID members. Data were analysed...

Cancer immunotherapy has transformed the TNBC tx landscape but new combinations are needed to further improve survival outcomes. Atezo (PD-L1 inhibitor) + nab-paclitaxel (nab-P) is approved for first-line (1L) of PD-L1+, inoperable LA/mTNBC. SG (Trop-2-directed antibody–drug conjugate) 2L+ mTNBC. We present 18-week IA atezo arm in MORPHEUS-panBC (NCT03424005). Eligible pts with no prior systemic LA/mTNBC were randomised receive control (atezo 840 mg IV on Day [D] 1 & 15 nab-P 100 mg/m2 D1, 8...

Anticancer properties of tyrindoleninone and 6-bromoisatin from Dicathais orbita were tested against physiologically normal primary human granulosa cells (HGC) reproductive cancer cell lines. Tyrindoleninone reduced viability with IC₅₀ values 39 µM (KGN; a tumour-derived line), μM (JAr), 156 (OVCAR-3), compared to 3516 in HGC. Apoptosis HGC's occurred after 4 h at 391 20 KGN cells. Differences apoptosis between HGC confirmed by TUNEL, 66 31% apoptotic nuclei HGC, respectively. These marine...

The MORPHEUS platform was designed to identify early efficacy signals and evaluate the safety of novel immunotherapy combinations across cancer types. phase Ib/II MORPHEUS-UC trial (NCT03869190) is evaluating atezolizumab plus magrolimab, niraparib, or tocilizumab in platinum-refractory locally advanced metastatic urothelial carcinoma (mUC). Additional treatment were evaluated will be reported separately.Patients had mUC that progressed during following with a platinum-containing regimen....

The corpus luteum is essential for the maintenance of early pregnancy in women. Angiogenesis may be one factor involved luteal rescue. aim this study was to determine changes endothelial cell proliferation throughout phase and human chorionic gonadotrophin (HCG)-simulated pregnancy. Human corpora lutea obtained simulated were immunostained with antibodies proliferating cells. Number distribution cells examined. Endothelial least abundant phase, increasing mid-luteal (P < 0.03). numbers did...

Luteal formation is associated with angiogenesis and low progesterone production. Maximal mid-luteal phase production concurrent extensive vascularization, luteolysis occurs when steroidogenesis decreases. Angiogenic cell proliferation vascular changes have not been examined in the marmoset. The aim of this study was to examine morphology throughout luteal by identifying: (i) von Willebrand factor VIII antigen (vW)-immunopositive endothelial cells; (ii) Ki67-positive proliferating (iii)...

The mechanism controlling luteal regression in primates is unknown but may involve cell death by apoptosis. Marmoset ovaries containing corpora lutea were studied at different stages of the normal ovarian cycle. Two additional groups animals underwent induced luteolysis with either prostaglandin F2 alpha analogue, cloprostenol, or GnRH antagonist, antarelix, mid-luteal phase. Apoptosis sections was estimated both counting number cells exhibiting morphological features apoptosis and situ...

BACKGROUND: Amitraz, an insecticide used to prevent tick and mite infestation of cattle, crops dogs, is α2-adrenergic receptor agonist that inhibits GnRH release the ovulatory LH surge in rats. Noradrenalin, physiological ligand for adrenergic receptors, progesterone production by IVF-derived granulosa cells, but effects amitraz are unknown. METHODS: Luteinized cells obtained from women undergoing ovarian stimulation were exposed (1, 10, 50, 100 µg/ml) 2–72 h, (50 hCG or specific antagonist...
