Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an ongoing inflammatory condition that affects the joints and can lead to severe damage cartilage bones, resulting in significant disability. This occurs when immune system becomes overactive, causing osteoclasts, cells responsible for breaking down bone, become more active than necessary, leading bone breakdown. RA disrupts equilibrium between osteoclasts osteoblasts, serious complications such as localized erosion, weakened bones surrounding joints, even...

Prognosis of patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) is generally poor because the lack simple, convenient, and noninvasive tools for CRC detection at early stage. The discovery microRNAs (miRNAs) their different expression profiles among kinds diseases has opened a new avenue tumor diagnosis. We built serum microRNA profile signature tested its specificity sensitivity as biomarker in diagnosis CRC. also studied possible role monitoring progression conducted two phase case-control test to...

Salmon is prone to be contaminated by Vibrio parahaemolyticus (V. parahaemolyticus), leading the deterioration of salmon quality and occurrence food-borne diseases. In this study, we aimed develop a novel xanthan-gum-based edible coating embedded with nano-encapsulated Litsea cubeba essential oil (LC-EO) for preservation at 4 °C. First, results growth curves scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed that LC-EO displayed potent antibacterial activity against V. parahaemolyticus; optimal...

Stroke results in the formation of a cavity infarcted brain tissue. Angiogenesis and neurogenesis are poor cavity, preventing brain-tissue regeneration for stroke therapy. To regenerate tissue filamentous phages, human-safe nanofiber-like bacteria-specific viruses, genetically engineered to display many copies RGD peptide on sidewalls. The viral nanofibers, electrostatically coated biocompatible injectable silk protein microparticles, not only promote adhesion, proliferation, infiltration...

Ubiquitin C-terminal hydrolase-L1 (UCHL1) is a de-ubiquitinating enzyme, which enzymatic activity relies on the C90 site. The function of UCHL1 controversial in different types cancer, and its role gastric cancer progression remains unclear. In this study, immunohistochemistry staining was applied to detect expression primary liver metastases from cancer. MKN45 BGC823 cell lines with stable de-ubiquitinase active or inactive UCHL1-variant C90S were established by lentiviral infection. effect...

Abstract The percentage of human CD56−CD16+ NK cells increases during chronic infection with HIV; however, the biologic role in HIV is unclear. Our results demonstrate that producing IL-10 and TGF-β was higher than CD56dimCD16+ cells. could inhibit IFN-γ production by autologous CD8+ T cells, this inhibition be partially reversed anti-IL-10, anti-TGF-β, or anti-PD-L1 mAbs. are potential targets for development novel immune therapies against infection.

In major depressive disorder (MDD), exploration of biomarkers will be helpful in diagnosing the as well choosing a treatment and predicting response. Currently, tRNA-derived small ribonucleic acids (tsRNAs) have been established promising non-invasive biomarker candidates that may enable more reliable diagnosis or monitoring various diseases. Herein, we aimed to explore tsRNA expression together with functional activities MDD development.

Nuclear apoptosis-inducing factor 1 (NAIF1) was previously reported to induce apoptosis. Moreover, the expression of NAIF1 significantly down-regulated in human gastric cancer tissues compared adjacent normal tissues. However, mechanism by which gene induces apoptosis is not fully understood. Our results show that minimally expressed all tested cell lines. data also demonstrates localized nuclei cells as detected monitoring green fluorescence NAIF1-GFP fusion protein using fluorescent...

Fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) is a neurological disease caused by excessive drinking during pregnancy and characterized congenital abnormalities in the structure function of fetal brain. This study was proposed to provide new insights into pathogenesis FAS revealing possible mechanisms alcohol-induced astrocyte injury. First, chronic exposure model astrocytes established, formation disorder found processes where tubulin-binding cofactor B (TBCB) decreased or lost, accompanied disorganized...
