Background: Topical corticosteroids were first introduced for use in 1951. Since then uncontrolled (abuse) has caused many different reactions resembling rosacea - steroid dermatitis or iatrosacea. Multiple pathways including rebound vasodilatation and proinflammatory cytokine release have been proposed as the mechanism such reactions. Aim: The aim was to study adverse effects of topical abuse response various treatment modalities. Materials Methods: Two hundred patients...
Alopecia areata (AA) is a recurrent, nonscarring type of hair loss considered to be an autoimmune process. Though its etiopathology not fully understood, there are claims that imbalance trace elements may trigger the onset AA.The aim present study was assess levels zinc, copper, and magnesium in serum AA patients.Fifty patients (34 men 16 women), fifty age sex matched healthy control subjects were studied. Samples analyzed using atomic absorption spectrometric methods.Serum zinc...
Abstract Background: Psoriasis and obesity are known to share many mediators of inflammation with each other such as TNF- α IL-6. Obesity, being a low-grade inflammatory state, is affect the disease course, severity, predisposition, response therapy in psoriatic patients. Whole-body dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) proven method estimate total, abdominal, extremity fat mass. Objectives: The present study aimed assess correlation severity psoriasis adiposity using regional mass DEXA...

Paraneoplastic pemphigus is a rare dermatologic condition that can occur as paraneoplastic manifestation of lymphoproliferative disorders, visceral malignancies, Castleman disease and thymomas. In pediatric age group has striking association with particularly poor prognosis in this group. We describe case associated retroperitoneal hyaline vascular variant fatal outcome despite aggressive management.
Reactive perforating collagenosis (RPC) is one of the rare forms transepidermal elimination in which genetically altered collagen extruded from epidermis. This disease usually starts early childhood as asymptomatic umbilicated papules on extremities, and lesions become more conspicuous with age.The objective our study was to determine clinico-pathological features RPC response various treatment modalities.Ten patients RPC, belonging five different families, were studied clinically. Various...
Ellis-van Creveld (EVC) syndrome is a rare autosomal recessive congenital disorder characterized by chondrodysplasia and polydactyly, ectodermal dysplasia defects of the heart. We present here case 16-year-old short-limbed dwarf with skeletal deformities bilateral postaxial dysplastic nails teeth, also having left-sided facial hemiatrophy. The diagnosis EVC was made on basis clinical radiological features. To best our knowledge, this first report hemiatrophy in medical literature from India.
Angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia (ALHE) is a rare and idiopathic vascular disorder. It characterized by red to brown papules nodules, typically localized on the head neck, particularly around ear as singular or multiple lesions. Although ALHE benign disease, lesions are often persistent difficult eradicate. Young middle age women more commonly affected. The histological examination corresponds florid proliferation atypical endothelial cells surrounded lymphocytic eosinophilic...
The hormonal profile varies considerably with age, gender, ethnicity, diet or physiological state of an individual. Limited population-specific studies have studied the variations in parameters among apparently healthy women. We aimed to analyse biological reference interval for various reproductive-aged Indian women.Out 3877 participants that were clinically evaluated, 1441 subjects subjected laboratory investigations. All underwent a detailed clinical, biochemical and profiling. hormone...

Background: The specific nail fold capillary (NFC) pattern found in systemic sclerosis (SSc), can be examined using a dermascope, which prove as simple and cost effective procedure for early diagnosis proper management of patients with SSc.Methods: A case-control study was conducted on 65 subjects – 10 primary raynauds phenomenon (RP), 40 the SSc 15 age gender matched controls. Pattern NFC dermascope studied all subjects. HRCT lung done findings were correlated pattern. Results: Out under...
Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) was first described in 1872 by Moritz Kaposi. In 1994, Chang et al. identified DNA sequences corresponding to human herpesvirus-8 (HHV-8) AIDS-associated Kaposi biopsies. It is now believed that presence of HHV-8 necessary but not sufficient cause KS. Other factors like immunosuppressive therapy also play a role. We describe an HIV-negative elderly patient who developed KS skin and mucous membrane after prolonged use corticosteroids for knee pain. The positive HHV-8.
Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common skin cancer. The significant risk factor ultraviolet radiation and frequent site of BCC head neck, with around 75-80% occurring on face.BCC occurs infrequently in non-sun-exposed skin. The axilla one least sun-exposed areas our body, as such at this very rare.We present a case large neglected axillary 35-year-old male.
