In the accompanying paper (Zaidi, S. H. E., Denman, R., and Malter, J. (1994) Biol. Chem. 269, 24000-24006) we demonstrate that in tumor normal cells, multiple cytosolic proteins interact with a 29-base sequence 3'-untranslated region of amyloid precursor protein (APP) mRNA. These data suggested APP gene expression may be modulated by regulated mRNA decay. We have investigated this prediction measuring decay rates resting mitogen-treated peripheral blood mononuclear cells H4 K562 cell lines....
Growing evidence suggests that Alzheimer's disease results from dysregulated production and deposition of P-amyloid in the central nervous system.P-Amyloid is derived proteolytic processing one multiple amyloid precursor protein (APP) isoforms."he APP many somatic tissues tumor cell lines provides a more accessible model to study regulation gene expression.Recent data suggest mRNAs accumulate activated lymphocytes neuronal lines. We are interested defining contribution alterations stability...
To establish whether there is a difference in recovery of salivary function with bilateral superficial lobe parotid-sparing intensity-modulated radiotherapy (BSLPS-IMRT) versus contralateral IMRT (CLPS-IMRT) patients locally advanced head and neck squamous cell cancers.
A prospective study was carried out to establish normative data for splenic dimensions in North Indian population and their correlation with physical standard on abdominal CT of 21 patients aged between 20 70 years having no disorders. Splenic volume measured by two methods-volume surface rendering technique Able 3D doctor software prolate ellipsoid formula. Volumes both the techniques were correlated standards. Mean 161.57 ± 90.2 cm(3) range 45.7-271.46 cm(3). The spleen had linear body...
Abiraterone is a standard treatment for men with castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC). We evaluated the antitumour activity of abiraterone following synthetic oestrogen diethylstilboestrol (DES). Castration-resistant patients treated were identified. Demographics, response variables and survival data recorded. Two-hundred seventy-four received abiraterone, 114 (41.6%) after DES. Pre-chemotherapy resulted in ⩾50% PSA declines 35/41 (85.4%) DES-naïve 20/27 (74.1%) DES-treated patients....
Palliative chemotherapy is the principal treatment of patients with advanced soft tissue sarcomas (STS); however prognosis limited (median overall survival 12-19 months). In this setting, patient values and priorities are central to personalised decisions. The prospective HOLISTIC study was conducted in UK Netherlands assessing health-related quality life STS receiving palliative chemotherapy. Participants completed a questionnaire before starting chemotherapy, including attitudes towards...
