Autologous chondrocyte implantation (ACI) is an important procedure when repairing cartilage defects of the knee. We previously reported several basic studies on tissue-engineered cartilage, and conducted a multicenter clinical study in 2009. In this study, we evaluated patients' scores MRI findings before after implantation, compared data obtained at 1 year approximately 6 years post-implantation. Fourteen patients who underwent to repair knee were evaluated. Tissue-engineered was produced...

Abstract Sarcopenia is a common skeletal muscle disease in older people. Lower limb strength good predictive value for sarcopenia; however, little known about its genetic components. Here, we conducted genome-wide association study (GWAS) knee extension total of 3452 Japanese aged 60 years or from two independent cohorts. We identified significant locus, rs10749438 which an intronic variant TACC2 (transforming acidic coiled-coil-containing 2) ( P = 4.2 × 10 −8 ). , encoding...

Background: Meniscal preservation results in better clinical outcomes than meniscectomy; however, no studies have evaluated the of revision meniscal repair. Hypothesis: Revision repair can achieve good outcomes. Study Design: Case series; Level evidence, 4. Methods: The study participants were 16 patients with symptomatic retears a total 96 who underwent primary arthroscopic Fifteen these mean age at was 27 years, and duration between operation months. Eight had degenerative changes meniscus...

Background: Longitudinal changes in patellar stiffness following reconstruction of the medial patellofemoral ligament for recurrent dislocation at full extension are unknown. Methods: Fifteen consecutive patients (three men and twelve women, with a mean age twenty-two years) seventeen knees were matched by sex to thirty-two reference subjects this prospective study. The follow-up period was minimum twenty-four months. used an autograft semitendinosus tendon interference screw system or...

We report the case of a 13-year-old boy with bilateral osteochondritis dissecans in lateral femoral trochlea knees. They were classified as grade 4 right knee and 1 left on basis Nelson classification within year after first consultation. In knee, fragment was surgically fixed, but healed conservative treatment. This indicates possibility that may develop bilaterally at different times present stages. The shows importance early diagnosis appropriate treatment stage.

Flexor tendon injuries in zone II were treated 14 fingers of 13 patients with our method. Firstly, a 2-strand core suture was made by the side-locking loop technique using USP 2-0-sized braided polyblend polyethylene suture, then 7-strand peripheral cross-stitches added 5-0-sized monofilament nylon suture. Post-operative exercises included passive flexion and extension without external fixation on next day surgery. Average follow-up observation period 18 months. As results, Strickland method...

A 16-year-old boy developed left foot pain of unknown cause that was unresponsive to conservative treatment, associated with fever and difficulty walking. He admitted our hospital osteomyelitis the accessory body navicular bone. Surgery could not be performed because patient had been diagnosed Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome. After antibiotic therapy, laboratory abnormalities resolved. One year after returned his original level sports activity. Both an bone may develop in immunocompromised...

Abstract: Ultrasonography (US) is non-invasive, fast, easy-to-use and safe. The quality resolution of US has been improved in recent years. Recently, orthopaedics, measurements have used for the diagnosis osteoarthritis (OA), which can provide basis proper early treatment. In this chapter, we review published articles about evaluation knee OA, especially focused on cartilage, including probe selection, direction, site, position, measurement thickness, echogenesis superficial sharpness...
