【背景】β2刺激薬の反復吸入についてのわが国での検討は少なく，吸入量や吸入間隔，吸入回数について必ずしも明確ではない．【方法】気管支喘息発作にて来院した25例を対象に，５％硫酸サルブタモール吸入液0.3mL（1.5mg）をネブライザー吸入した．SpO2<97％あるいは喘鳴スコアが２以上の症例について，最大３回まで同量，20分間隔で吸入した．【結果】吸入後全例でSpO2ならびに喘鳴スコアの十分な臨床的改善が認められ，心拍数には明らかな増減は認められず，振戦，動悸などの訴えもなかった．また，２回目吸入後あるいは３回目吸入後に速やかな改善を認める症例も経験された．【結語】β2刺激薬反復吸入は発作増悪に対して大変有効な治療法と考えられた．さらにβ2刺激薬の１回吸入量を従来量よりも増量することで，更なる効果が期待できると思われるが，１回吸入量を増量するよりも反復吸入を行うことで実際的増量を得る方法がより効果的で，かつ安全な方法と考えられる．
