Dietary fibers/probiotics may relieve constipation via optimizing gut microbiome, yet with limited trial-based evidences. We aimed to evaluate the effects of formulas dietary fibers or probiotics on functional symptoms, and identify modulations microbiota relevance. conducted a 4-week double-blinded randomized placebo-controlled trial in 250 adults constipation. Intervention: A: polydextrose; B: psyllium husk; C: wheat bran + D: Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis HN019 Lacticaseibacillus...

Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) is a leading cause of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP), accounting for 10–40% cases in children. In China, the high prevalence macrolide-resistant MP (MRMP) and recurrent epidemics place significant burden on healthcare system. Leveraging data from over 1.6 million cases, this study provides comprehensive analysis epidemiological characteristics across China. Seasonal patterns revealed three distinct transmission zones Transmission Zone 1 exhibited two annual...

Introduction: Metastasis and drug resistance contribute substantially to the poor prognosis of colorectal cancer (CRC) patients. However, epigenetic regulatory mechanisms by which CRC develops metastatic drug-resistant characteristics remain unclear. This study aimed investigate role miR-302a in metastasis molecular-targeted elucidate underlying molecular mechanisms. Methods: expression cell lines patient tissue microarrays was analyzed qPCR fluorescence situ hybridization. The roles...

Resting cells represent a survival strategy employed by diatoms to endure prolonged periods of unfavourable conditions. In the oceans, many sink at end their blooming season and therefore need cold dark conditions in deeper layers water column. How they survive these is largely unknown. We conducted an integrative analysis encompassing methods from histology, physiology, biochemistry, genetics reveal biological mechanism resting-cell formation model diatom Thalassiosira pseudonana....

In China, great differences in economy, social characteristics and hygiene exist between developing developed regions. A comparative study of infectious diarrhea two regions was needed. Three groups diarrheal patients were collected: children ≤5 year-olds from Beijing (developed region) Henan Province (developing region), adults over 18 Beijing. questionnaire used to survey feces samples examined for 16 enteropathogens. We enrolled 1422 1047 region 755 region. Virus positive rates 32.98%...

Gastric cancer is a frequently occurring with high mortality each year worldwide. Finding new and effective therapeutic strategy against human gastric still urgently required. Ginkgolic acid (GA), botanical drug, extracted from the seed coat of Ginkgo biloba L. various bioactive properties, including anti-tumor. Unfortunately, if GA has antitumor effect on underlying molecular mechanisms have yet to be investigated. In present study, we found that markedly reduced cell viability....

Boosting and prolonging SARS-CoV-2 vaccine-elicited immunity is paramount for containing the COVID-19 pandemic, which wanes substantially within months after vaccination. Here we demonstrate that unique strain of probiotic Lactobacillus plantarum GUANKE (LPG) could promote SARS-CoV-2-specific immune responses in both effective memory phases through enhancing interferon signaling suppressing apoptotic inflammatory pathways. Interestingly, oral LPG administration promoted neutralization...

A taxonomic study was carried out on bacterial strain H3(T), which isolated from the toxic marine diatom Pseudo-nitzschia multiseries. Cells of H3(T) were Gram-stain-negative, rod-shaped, non-motile and capable reducing nitrate to nitrite, but not denitrification. Growth observed at NaCl concentrations 1-9%, pH 6-12 10-37 °C. It unable degrade aesculin or gelatin. The dominant fatty acids (>10 %) C18:1ω7c/ω6c (summed feature 8) C16:0. respiratory ubiquinone Q10. major lipids...

A case of primary pneumonic plague (PPP) caused by Yersinia pestis is reported. This occurred in the largest area China. The patient died after contact with a dog that had captured an infected marmot. Three 151 contacts were shown to be positive for antibody against F1 antigen indirect hemagglutination assay, but none clinical symptoms. There was no secondary case.
