Abstract Strand-selection is the final step of microRNA biogenesis in which functional mature miRNAs are generated from one or both arms precursor. The preference strand-selection diverse during development and tissue formation, however, its pathological effect still unknown. Here we find that two miRNA same precursor, miR-574-5p miR-574-3p, inversely expressed play exactly opposite roles gastric cancer progression. Higher-5p with lower-3p expression pattern significantly correlated higher...

The migratory locust, Locusta migratoria manilensis, is an immensely destructive agricultural pest that forms a devastating and voracious gregarious phase. fungal insect pathogen, Metarhizium acridum, specialized locust pathogen has been used as potent mycoinsecticide for control. Little, however, known about immune tissue, i.e. fat body hemocyte, responses to challenge by this fungus.RNA-seq (RNA sequencing) technology were applied comparatively examine the different roles of hemocytes, two...

CTNNB1 , encoding β-catenin protein, is the most frequently altered proto-oncogene in hepatic neoplasms. In this study, we studied significance and pathological mechanism of gain-of-function mutations hepatocarcinogenesis. Activated not only triggered tumorigenesis but also exacerbated Tp53 deletion or hepatitis B virus infection–mediated liver cancer development mouse models. Using untargeted metabolomic profiling, identified boosted de novo pyrimidine synthesis as major metabolic...

Background MicroRNAs act as posttranscriptional regulators of gene expression in many biological processes. Their deregulations occur commonly gastric cancer (GC). Although DNA methylation constitutes an important mechanism for microRNA deregulation cancer, this field largely remains unexplored. Methodology/Principal Findings Total RNA was extracted from the tissues 100 patients with GC and four cell lines. The levels miR-10a were determined by real-time PCR specific TaqMan probes. Moreover,...

Chemotherapy has improved the survival of patients with gastric cancer by unknown mechanisms. In this study, we showed that cisplatin and docetaxel used in treatment increase expression miRNA-29 (miR-29) family members decrease their oncogenic targets, mediating a significant part efficacious benefits these chemotherapeutic agents. particular, who experienced recurrences after chemotherapy tended to exhibit low levels miR-29c tumors, suggesting activation may contribute efficacy. Enforced...

A novel phenol-degrading strain was isolated and identified as Rhodococcus ruber C1. The degradation analysis shows that 1806 mg/L of phenol can be completely degraded by C1 within 38 h, the maximum specific growth rate (μmax=1.527 h-1) (qmax=3.674 indicate its excellent metabolism capability. More importantly, in temperature range 20-45 °C 72 with longer time, even at 10, 15 50 °C. whole genome sequenced, a comparative 36 other genomes performed. remarkable gene family expansion occurred...

Microbial degradation is one of the effective methods to remove thifensulfuron-methyl (TSM) in soil and water environments. In this study, a high-efficiency TSM degrading strain Serratia marcecens N80 was used. The abandoned fungus substrate converted biochars at various pyrolysis temperatures (300, 450 600 °C). Biochar made °C (BC600) showed best adsorption capacity, while efficiency reached maximum up 81.08%. Therefore, BC600, polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), sodium alginate (SA) were chosen...

Reduced estrogen action is associated with obesity and insulin resistance. However, the cell tissue-specific actions of estradiol in maintaining metabolic health remain inadequately understood, especially men. We observed that skeletal muscle ESR1/Esr1 (encodes receptor α [ERα]) positively correlated sensitivity humans mice. Because a primary tissue involved oxidative metabolism sensitivity, we generated muscle-selective Esr1 loss- gain-of-expression mouse models. determined links...

The abnormal activation and differentiation of B cells play an important role in the pathogenesis autoimmune diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Alpha-ketoglutarate (α-KG), a key metabolite tricarboxylic acid cycle, has been shown to be involved many diseases by regulating immune response. However, α-KG SLE, as well cells, remains unclear. In this study, we used organic acid-targeted metabolomics analyze changes levels 100 acids serum SLE patients healthy controls, found...

The 5p and 3p arms of microRNA (miRNA) are typically generated from the same precursor, one arm influences protein output, while other has a short half-life. However, few miR-5p/3p pairs have been reported to co-exist in cancer cells. Here, we performed genome-wide analysis miRNA expression gastric (GC) cells systematically investigate co-expression profile tumorigenesis. We discovered that only 41 out 1749 analyzed were co-expressed. Specifically, abnormal miR-369-5p miR-369-3p was...
