Abstract Drought and heat are major abiotic stresses frequently coinciding to threaten rice production. Despite hundreds of stress-related genes being identified, only a few have been confirmed confer resistance multiple in crops. Here we report ONAC023, hub stress regulator that integrates the regulations both drought tolerance rice. ONAC023 positively regulates at seedling reproductive stages. Notably, functioning is obliterated without treatment can be triggered by two layers. The...

Molecular signaling in the tumor microenvironment (TME) is complex, and crosstalk among various cell compartments supporting metastasis remains poorly understood. In particular, role of vascular pericytes, a critical cellular component TME, cancer invasion warrants further investigation. Here, we report that an elevation FGF-2 samples from patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) xenograft mouse models promoted NPC metastasis. Mechanistically, cell-derived strongly pericyte proliferation...

Patients with severe congenital neutropenia (SCN) often develop periodontitis despite standard medical and dental care. In light of previous findings that mutations in the neutrophil elastase gene, ELANE, are associated more neutropenic phenotypes, we hypothesized an association between genotype SCN development periodontitis.Fourteen Swedish patients or cyclic harboring different genetic backgrounds were recruited for periodontal examination. The marine thraustochytrids are a promising source of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and the ketocarotenoid astaxanthin. In this study, biosynthetic pathways these two important metabolites in Aurantiochytrium sp. SK4 was illustrated by analyses genome, transcriptome, key enzymes, pathway products. Two sets genes were involved for biosynthesis fatty acids. absence Δ-15 desaturase presence docosapentaenoic (DPA), up to 12% total acids suggest that may synthesize DHA mainly via polyketide synthase...

Marginal sea methane seep sediments sustain highly productive chemosynthetic ecosystems and are hotspots of intense biogeochemical cycling. Rich supply stimulates rapid microbial consumption oxygen; these systems thus usually hypoxic to anoxic. This reported evidence for resident nitrogen fixation suggest the presence an anaerobic ammonium-oxidizing (anammox) bacterial community in sediments. To test this hypothesis, we employed detection genes encoding 16S rRNA gene hydrazine dehydrogenase...
