Abstract Background Enterococcus faecalis infective endocarditis (EFIE) is characterized by a higher frequency of relapses than other endocarditis. The role the treatment on its occurrence remains poorly understood. aim this study was to investigate whether antibiotic regimen could impact risk relapse in EFIE. Materials This multicenter retrospective patients diagnosed with definite EFIE between 2015 and 2019 14 French hospitals. primary endpoint within year following diagnosis. As death...
ABSTRACT Mycobacterium abscessus , as a species, has been increasingly implicated in respiratory infections, notably cystic fibrosis patients. The species comprises 3 subspecies, which can be difficult to identify. Since they differ antibiotic susceptibility and clinical relevance, developing routine diagnostic tool discriminating at the subspecies level is real challenge. Forty-three isolates, previously identified by multilocus sequence typing, were analyzed matrix-assisted laser...
Increasing resistance to antibiotics of Pseudomonas aeruginosa leads therapeutic deadlock and alternative therapies are needed. We aimed evaluate the effects Lactobacillus clinical isolates in vivo, through intranasal administration on a murine model pneumonia. We screened vitro 50 pulmonary for their ability decrease synthesis two QS dependent-virulence factors (elastase pyocyanin) produced by strain PAO1. Two blends three were then tested vivo: one with highly effective anti-PAO1 virulence...
Limited pharmacokinetics data support dalbavancin long-term use in off-label indications and the optimal dosing regimen is debated. We aimed to describe concentrations an observational retrospective multicentre study.
Abstract Background Achromobacter spp. are opportunistic pathogens, mostly infecting immunocompromised patients and with cystic fibrosis (CF) considered as difficult-to-treat pathogens due to both intrinsic resistance the possibility of acquired antimicrobial resistance. Species identification remains challenging leading imprecise descriptions in each taxon. Cefiderocol is a broad-spectrum siderophore cephalosporin increasingly used management infections for which susceptibility data remain...
The first objective of this study was to determine the GenoType NTM-DR assay performance for subspecies identification in Mycobacterium abscessus complex isolates. second evaluate ability detect clarithromycin and amikacin resistance M. isolates compared with drug susceptibility testing (DST) PCR sequencing erm(41), rrl rrs genes. concordance between MLST results concerning 100%. wild type mutated alleles genes were detected by 100% (115/115) agreement. Similarly, DST observed testing....
The spreading of antibiotic resistance is a major public health issue, which requires alternative treatments to antibiotics. Lactobacilli have shown abilities prevent pneumonia in clinical studies when given by oral route, certainly through the gut-lung axis involvement. Rationally, respiratory administration lactobacilli has been developed and studied murine model, from pathogens. It allows direct effect probiotics into system. To our knowledge, no study ever focused on probiotic...
Eighty-five children were diagnosed with culture-confirmed nontuberculous mycobacterial cervical lymphadenitis within the MYCOMED surveillance network from 2004 to 2013. The mean incidence sharply increased 0.57 3.7 per 100,000 year, after discontinuation of mandatory bacillus Calmette and Guérin immunization in 2007. Cases documented as Mycobacterium avium (62.3%), intracellulare (15.3%) lentiflavum (12.9%). Outcome was favorable all, or without surgery antimycobacterial treatment.
Introduction Pseudomonas aeruginosa pulmonary infections are the primary cause of morbi-mortality in patients with cystic fibrosis (CF). In this cohort study, objective was to identify candidate biomarkers P. infection within airway microbiota. Methods A 3-year prospective multicentre study (PYOMUCO study) conducted Western France and included initially free for at least 1 year. 16S-targeted metagenomics approach applied on iterative sputum samples a first set (n=33). The composition...
Abstract Background Description and comparison of bacterial characteristics ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) between critically ill intensive care unit (ICU) patients with COVID-19-positive, COVID + ; non-COVID-19, COVID-. Methods Retrospective, observational, multicenter study that focused on French during the first wave pandemic (March–April 2020). Results 935 identification at least one bacteriologically proven VAP were included (including 802 +). Among Gram-positive bacteria, S....
In this multicentric study performed in 12 French hospitals, we reported that 26.9% (14/52) of the amoxicillin-clavulanate-resistant Proteus mirabilis isolates produced OXA-23 carbapenemase. We found an inhibition zone diameter <11 mm around amoxicillin-clavulanate disc was accurate screening cutoff to detect these producers. confirmed by whole-genome sequencing OXA-23-producers all belonged same lineage has been demonstrated disseminate or OXA-58 P. mirabilis.
