Abstract Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), previously known as non-alcoholic fatty disease, encompasses steatosis and metabolic steatohepatitis (MASH), leading to cirrhosis hepatocellular carcinoma. Preclinical MASLD research is mainly performed in rodents; however, the model that best recapitulates human yet be defined. We conducted a wide-ranging retrospective review (metabolic phenotype, histopathology, transcriptome benchmarked against humans) of murine...

Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) is a progressive bile duct disease associated with inflammatory bowel (PSC-IBD).To investigate whether patients PSC-IBD benefit from gluten-free and amylase trypsin inhibitor (ATI)-free diet (GFD).We performed prospective clinical pilot study administering an eight-week GFD. The primary outcomes were colonic inflammation assessed by proctosigmoidoscopy, liver stiffness (surrogate for fibrosis, cholestasis) measured transient elastography before after...

Improved serological biomarkers are needed for the early detection, risk stratification and treatment surveillance of patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). We performed an exploratory study using advanced, highly specific, DNA-aptamer-based serum proteomics (SOMAscan, 1305-plex) to identify distinct proteomic changes in OSCC pre- vs. post-resection compared healthy controls. A total 63 significantly differentially expressed proteins (each p < 0.05) were found that could...

Abstract Context Serum propeptides of type III and VI collagen (PRO-C3 PRO-C6) are elevated in advanced nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), but their value patients with severe obesity evolution after bariatric surgery (BS) is unknown. It unclear if these markers fibrogenesis affected by adipose tissue fibrosis (ATF). Objective We studied the association PRO-C3 PRO-C6 before BS, examined evaluated how much patients’ ATF contribute to levels. Methods were measured 158 BS compared liver,...

Abstract Timely detection of portal hypertension as a manifestation in subgroup patients with common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) represents challenge since it is usually not associated liver cirrhosis. To identify relevant markers for hypertension, we evaluated clinical history, laboratory parameters, and abdominal ultrasound including elastography biomarkers extracellular matrix formation. Twenty seven (6%) 479 CVID presented clinically significant defined by either the presence...

Thrombospondin-2 (TSP2) is a matricellular protein in organ fibrosis. TSP2 expression highly upregulated fibrogenesis, as shown patients with fatty liver disease, lung fibrosis and pilot study of primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC), where wheat free diet reduced elevated levels. We therefore hypothesised that may serve novel marker PSC.

Background: Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) is one of the most promising biological targets in weight loss therapy due to its involvement central regulation food intake and satiety. Still, qualities GLP-1 are not fully understood. Thrombospondin-2 (TSP-2) a novel key serum fibrosis marker that reflects especially dynamics liver fibrogenesis patients with fatty disease. Therefore, we investigated TSP-2 levels association multimodal special regard inflammation upon lifestyle intervention.
