The copper-catalyzed cycloaddition reaction between azides and alkynes functions efficiently in aqueous solution the presence of a tris(triazolyl)amine ligand. process has been employed to make rapid reliable covalent connections micromolar concentrations protein decorated with either reactive moieties. chelating ligand plays crucial role stabilizing Cu(I) oxidation state protecting from Cu(triazole)-induced denaturation. Because azide alkyne groups themselves are unreactive residues or...

Copper(I)-catalyzed 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction of nonfluorescent 3-azidocoumarins and terminal alkynes afforded intense fluorescent 1,2,3-triazole products. The mild condition this allowed us to construct a large library pure coumarin dyes. Since both azide alkyne are quite inert biological systems, has potential in bioconjugation bioimaging applications.
