Taming highly enolizable aldehydes for catalytic asymmetric C–C coupling with nucleophiles remains an elusive challenge compared to widely explored simple alkyl or aryl aldehydes. Herein, we use ThDP-dependent enzymes realize the direct of 2-phosphonate in situ-generated dynamically reversible (acyl anions). Unlike NHC-mediated reactions that yield complex mixtures multiple adducts, our enzymatic process selectively produces biologically active β-hydroxy phosphonates high yields (up 95%) and...

Serial antibacterial furanoditerpenes caesanines A–D (1–4), possessing a cassane-type diterpenoid skeleton with an unusual N bridge between C-19/C-20, were identified from Chinese herb Caesalpinia sappan Linn. In addition, caesanine D (4) showed the first class of dicassane ethers. Their structures determined by different spectroscopic methods and ECD calculation. Caesanines A B exhibited strong activities against MRSA suggesting promising entry point for development anti-infective drugs.

Globally, the swine industry suffers significant economic losses due to presence of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV). Unfortunately, existing vaccines fail offer adequate protection against various strains PRRSV, there are currently no specific treatments available for this virus. In study, we screened four natural products identified cinnamaldehyde (CA) as an effective inhibitor PRRSV infection in Marc-145 cells. CA could achieve inhibition rate up 93% on N...

Two new noncyanogenic cyanoglucoside dimers, simmonosides A and B (1 2), were identified from the aqueous extract of jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis) leaves. Compounds 1 2 are first examples dimers containing a unique four-membered ring, representing novel dimerization patterns at α,β-unsaturated carbons nitrile group in γ,δ-unsaturated 2. Their structures elucidated based on spectroscopic evidence electronic circular dichroism (ECD) calculations. exhibit promising COX-2 inhibition activity,...

As magnetism and electricity are basic natural phenomena which inextricably linked together, the connections between electric anticorrosion properties exist objectively. Exploring relationship corrosion prevention is significant but challenging. Through researching X-ZnO solid solution doped by magnetic metal (X = Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Mn), interesting meaningful results emerge. First, Cu-ZnO shows multistage self-assembly phenomenon, forming a pretty Rubik's cube structure. Second, experiment...

Nucleic acid detection plays a key role in diverse diagnosis and disease control. Currently available nucleic techniques are challenged by trade-offs among speed, simplicity, precision cost. Here, we described novel method, designated SENSOR (Sulfur DNA mediated sensing platform), for rapid detection. was developed from phosphorothioate (PT)-DNA sulfur binding domain (SBD) which specifically binds double-stranded PT-modified DNA. utilizes PT-DNA oligo SBD as targeting module, is linked with...
