Chili pepper (Capsicum) is known for its unique fruit pungency due to the presence of capsaicinoids. The evolutionary history capsaicinoid biosynthesis and mechanism their tissue specificity remain obscure lack high-quality Capsicum genomes. Here, we report two telomere-to-telomere (T2T) gap-free genomes C. annuum wild nonpungent relative rhomboideum investigate evolution in chili peppers. We precisely delineate centromeres, which high-copy tandem repeats but are extensively invaded by CRM...

Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have surpassed the number of protein-coding genes, yet majority no known function. We previously discovered 844 lncRNAs that were genetically linked to breast cancer through genome-wide association studies (GWAS). Here, we show a subset these alter risk by modulating cell proliferation, and provide evidence reduced expression on one lncRNA increases aberrant DNA replication repair.

Leaf red coloration is an important characteristic in many plant species, including cultivars of ornamental peach (Prunus persica). Peach leaf color controlled by a single Gr gene on linkage group 6, with allele dominant over the green allele. Here, we report identification candidate peach. The leaves due to accumulation anthocyanin pigments, which regulated at transcriptional level. Based transcriptome comparison between red- and green-colored leaves, MYB transcription regulator PpMYB10.4...

Abstract WRKY transcription factors (TFs) play important roles in stress responses planta . However, the function of TFs regulation fruit ripening is unclear. Here, 23 tomato SlWRKYs that are similar to ethylene-responsive genes from other plant species, or show up-regulation during previous genome-wide study, were selected, and their was investigated. Twelve found be responsive ethylene ( SlER-WRKYs ), showing expression patterns those related ripening. Eight —SlWRKY16, 17, 22, 25, 31, 33,...

Abstract Background As the key regulators in BR signaling, BES1 family genes regulate thousands of target involved various development processes. So far, functions are poorly understood tomato, and a comprehensive genomic expressional analysis is worth to conduct for this family. Results Here, nine SlBES1 members were identified tomato classified into five groups based on conserved motif, gene structure phylogenetic analysis. Commercial lactic acid bacteria strains and indigenous Chinese acetic bacterium were co-cultivated bi- tri-culturally in Junzao jujube puree for the first time to investigate their effects on physicochemical properties quality attributes. Lactic-acetic co-fermentation was performed at 37 °C 48 h during anaerobic fermentation phase 30 144 aerobic fermentation. FTIR results showed that predominant wave numbers 1716–1724 cm−1 2922–3307 exhibited discernible alterations lactic-acetic...

The homeotic (Hox) genes are highly conserved in metazoans, where they required for various processes development, and misregulation of their expression is associated with human cancer. In the developing embryo, Hox activated sequentially time space according to genomic position within gene clusters. Accumulating evidence implicates both enhancer elements noncoding RNAs controlling this spatiotemporal genes, but disentangling relative contributions challenging. Here, we identify two...

Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli serotype O157:H7 (O157) is a critical, foodborne, human intestinal pathogen that causes severe acute hemorrhagic diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and even death. Small RNAs (sRNAs) are noncoding regulatory molecules sense environmental changes trigger various virulence-related signaling pathways; however, few such sRNAs have been identified in O157. Here, we report novel sRNA, EsrF senses high ammonium concentrations the colon enhances O157 pathogenicity by...
