Variable X-ray and gamma-ray emission is characteristic of the most extreme physical processes in Universe, studying sources these energetic photons has been a major driver astronomy for past 50 years. Here we present multiwavelength observations unique selected transient, discovered by Swift, which was accompanied bright across electromagnetic spectrum, whose properties are unlike any previously observed source. We pinpoint event to center small, star-forming galaxy at redshift z=0.3534....
The NOvA experiment has made a $4.4\sigma$-significant observation of $\bar\nu_{e}$ appearance in 2 GeV $\bar\nu_{\mu}$ beam at distance 810 km. Using $12.33\times10^{20}$ protons on target delivered to the Fermilab NuMI neutrino beamline, recorded 27 $\bar\nu_{\mu} \rightarrow \bar\nu_{e}$ candidates with background 10.3 and 102 \bar\nu_{\mu}$ candidates. This new antineutrino data is combined measure oscillation parameters $|\Delta m^2_{32}| = 2.48^{+0.11}_{-0.06}\times10^{-3}$ eV$^2/c^4$,...
We present updated results from the NOvA experiment for $\nu_\mu\rightarrow\nu_\mu$ and $\nu_\mu\rightarrow\nu_e$ oscillations an exposure of $8.85\times10^{20}$ protons on target, which represents increase 46% compared to our previous publication. The utilize significant improvements in both simulations analysis data. A joint fit data $\nu_\mu$ disappearance $\nu_e$ appearance gives best point as normal mass hierarchy, $\Delta m^2_{32} = 2.44\times 10^{-3}{{\rm eV}^2}/c^4$,...
A search for mixing between active neutrinos and light sterile has been performed by looking muon neutrino disappearance in two detectors at baselines of 1.04 735 km, using a combined MINOS MINOS+ exposure 16.36×10^{20} protons on target. simultaneous fit to the charged-current neutral-current energy spectra yields no evidence 3+1 model. The most stringent limit date is set parameter sin^{2}θ_{24} values mass splitting Δm_{41}^{2}>10^{-4} eV^{2}.
We present new $ν_μ\rightarrowν_e$, $ν_μ\rightarrowν_μ$, $\overlineν_μ\rightarrow\overlineν_e$, and $\overlineν_μ\rightarrow\overlineν_μ$ oscillation measurements by the NOvA experiment, with a 50% increase in neutrino-mode beam exposure over previously reported results. The additional data, combined published neutrino antineutrino are all analyzed using improved techniques simulations. A joint fit to $ν_e$, $ν_μ$, $\overlineν_e$, $\overlineν_μ$ candidate samples within 3-flavor framework...
The proton and deuteron structure functions F2p F2d are measured in inelastic muon scattering with an average beam energy of 470 GeV. data were taken at Fermilab experiment E665 during 1991 1992 using liquid hydrogen deuterium targets. F2 measurements reported the range 0.0008<x<0.6 0.2<Q2<75 GeV2. These first precise low x Q2 data. In high where they overlap from NMC, two agreement. also DESY HERA data, there is a smooth connection between sets. At consistent QCD-evolved leading twist...
Searches for a light sterile neutrino have been performed independently by the MINOS and Daya Bay experiments using muon (anti)neutrino electron antineutrino disappearance channels, respectively. In this Letter, results from both are combined with those Bugey-3 reactor experiment to constrain oscillations into neutrinos. The three sensitive complementary regions of parameter space, enabling analysis probe allowed Liquid Scintillator Neutrino Detector (LSND) MiniBooNE in minimally extended...
Increases in mean lesional iron content by quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) ≥6% and/or vascular permeability dynamic contrast enhanced perfusion (DCEQP) ≥40% on MRI have been associated with new symptomatic hemorrhage (SH) cerebral cavernous malformations (CCMs). It is not known if plasma biomarkers can reflect these changes within the lesion proper. This cohort study enrolled 46 CCM patients SH prior year. Plasma samples, QSM and DCEQP were simultaneously acquired at beginning end...

An automated method for determination of arterial input function (AIF) rapid cerebral perfusion with dynamic susceptibility contrast magnetic resonance (MR) imaging was derived. In 100 patients, the used to create images relative blood flow, volume, and mean transit time. 20 voxel chosen AIF correlated a large artery exhibited less partial-volume averaging when compared an manually. It is possible reliably determine at MR eliminate need operator lengthy postprocessing. © RSNA, 2003
Abstract A novel approach for quantifying cerebral blood flow (CBF) is proposed that combines the bookend technique of calculating perfusion with an automatic postprocessing algorithm. The reproducibility quantitative CBF (qCBF) measurement in healthy controls ( N = 8) showed a higher intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) and lower variation (COV) when calculated analysis (ICC/COV 0.90/0.09) than compared to conventional manual 0.58/0.19). Also, patients 25) was successfully evaluated...
<h3>BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE:</h3> Arteriovenous malformations are an important etiology of hemorrhagic stroke. We report results of a search for oscillations involving light sterile neutrino over distances 1.04 and 735 km in ν_{μ}-dominated beam with peak energy 3 GeV. The data, from an exposure 10.56×10^{20} protons on target, are analyzed using phenomenological model one neutrino. constrain the mixing parameters θ_{24} Δm_{41}^{2} set limits four-dimensional Pontecorvo-Maki-Nakagawa-Sakata matrix, |U_{μ4}|^{2} |U_{τ4}|^{2}, under assumption that between ν_{e} ν_{s} is negligible (|U_{e4}|^{2}=0)....
Searches for electron antineutrino, muon neutrino, and antineutrino disappearance driven by sterile neutrino mixing have been carried out the Daya Bay MINOS+ collaborations. This Letter presents combined results of these searches, along with exclusion from Bugey-3 reactor experiment, framed in a minimally extended four-neutrino scenario. Significantly improved constraints on θ_{μe} angle are derived that constitute most constraining limits to date over five orders magnitude mass-squared...
The ratio of cross sections for inelastic muon scattering on xenon and deuterium nuclei was measured at very low Bjorken x (0.000 02${\mathit{x}}_{\mathrm{Bj}}$0.25). data were taken Fermilab experiment E-665 with a 490 GeV/c beam incident liquid gaseous targets. Two largely independent analysis techniques gave statistically consistent results. xenon-to-deterium per-nucleon cross-section is constant approximately 0.7 ${\mathit{x}}_{\mathrm{Bj}}$ below 0.003.
While H 2 15 O positron emission tomography (PET) is still the gold standard in quantitative assessment of cerebral perfusion (rCBF), its technical challenge, limited availability, and radiation exposure are disadvantages method. Recent work demonstrated feasibility magnetic resonance (MR) for imaging. There remain open questions, however, especially regarding reproducibility. The main purpose this study was to assess accuracy reproducibility MR-derived flow values those derived from PET....
