Key Points Restarting renin-angiotensin system inhibitor after discontinuation was associated with a lower risk of kidney outcomes and mortality but not related to hyperkalemia. Our findings support proactive approach restarting among patients CKD. Background While inhibitors (RASi) have been the mainstream treatment for CKD, they are often discontinued because adverse effects such as hyperkalemia AKI. It is unknown whether RASi improves clinical outcomes. Methods Using Osaka Consortium...
Vascular calcification (VC) is a life-threatening complication of CKD. Severe protein restriction causes shortage essential amino acids, and exacerbates VC in rats. Therefore, we investigated the effects dietary L-lysine, first-limiting acid cereal grains, on VC. Male Sprague-Dawley rats at age 13 weeks were divided randomly into four groups: low-protein (LP) diet (group LP), LP diet+adenine Ade), diet+adenine+glycine Gly) as control group, diet+adenine+L-lysine·HCl Lys). At 18 weeks, group...
The Agatston score, commonly used to quantify coronary artery calcification (CAC), is determined by the plaque area and density. Despite an excellent predictability of score for cardiovascular events, density CAC has never been studied in patients with pre-dialysis chronic kidney disease (CKD). This study aimed analyze its association serum mineral levels CKD.We enrolled CKD who had diabetes mellitus, prior history, elevated low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels, or smoking history....
The serum glycoprotein fetuin-A is an important inhibitor of extraosseous calcification. importance has been confirmed in null mice, which develop widespread calcification including the kidney. However, mechanism how protects kidneys from nephrocalcinosis remains uncertain. Here, we demonstrate that intratubular plays a role prevention proximal tubules. Although normal rat kidney did not express mRNA for fetuin-A, found punctate immunohistochemical staining mainly S1 segment pattern...
Large granular lymphocytes that strongly express CD56 (CD56++ LGL) constitute a major population of leukocytes in the secretory endometrium and pregnancy decidua are considered to be involved reproductive immunity maintaining pregnancy. The present study aimed reveal relationship between characteristic changes CD56++ LGL altered hormonal environment and/or trophoblast invasion endometrium. Cell surface markers obtained from during menstrual cycle early were analysed using flow cytometry....
Abstract The dimerization of ethylene was carried out using palladous chloride as the catalyst. Acetic acid, dichloride, tetrachloride, benzene, chlorobenzene, triethyleneglycol, acetic acid esters, chloroform, cyclohexane and ethanol were employed reaction solvents, effects these solvents on investigated. best yield butylene (about 1500 mol.% to chloride) obtained, when used solvent; decreased gradually following above order until, solvent, it yielded only 96 mol.%. However, in all...
This report describes the case of a 76-year-old man with ulcerative colitis who developed interstitial nephritis after starting 5-aminosalicylic acid (5-ASA) therapy. The patient experienced an initial improvement in symptoms, but fatigue, anorexia, and severe renal dysfunction 2.5 months later. Renal biopsy confirmed drug-induced nephritis, conservative treatment fluid replacement discontinuation 5-ASA improved patient's condition. Clinicians should monitor patients receiving therapy for...
Abstract Background and hypothesis Proteinuria exhibits seasonal fluctuations, decreasing in summer increasing winter. It is unknown whether the association between proteinuria risk of kidney failure varies by season. Methods The Osaka Consortium for Kidney Disease Research (OCKR) database contained retrospective data from 15 367 patients with estimated glomerular filtration rates 10–60 mL/min/1.73m2, who were referred to Department Nephrology at five clinical centers Japan, 2010 2021....
<h3>Background</h3> Scleroderma bowel involvement is a problematic symptoms and cause loss of quality life. There no non-invasive useful tool for diagnosis clinical parameter involvements in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc). <h3>Objectives</h3> To determine the quantitative analysis severity gastrointestinal SSc, we measured serum FGF19 superfamily (FGF19, FGF21) 13C labeled fatty acid absorption-breath test We observed production intestinal lipid absorption by...
