Abstract An updated inventory of Brazilian seed plants is presented and offers important insights into the country's biodiversity. This work started in 2010, with publication Plants Fungi Catalogue, has been since by more than 430 specialists working online. Brazil home to 32,086 native Angiosperms 23 Gymnosperms, showing an increase 3% its species richness relation 2010. The Amazon Rainforest richest biome for while Atlantic one Angiosperms. There was a considerable increment number...
Abstract The Global Strategy for Plant Conservation (GSPC) was established by the Conference of Parties in 2002 to decrease loss plant diversity, reduce poverty and contribute sustainable development. To achieve this overarching goal, GSPC has a series targets, one which is ensure that diversity well understood, so it can be effectively conserved used manner. Brazil hosts more than 46,000 species plants, algae fungi, representing most biodiverse countries on Earth, playing key role GSPC....
Maytenus species are distributed in the New World from Argentina to U. S. A. The genus delimitation has been controversial, especially relation inclusion of Gymnosporia. treated a broad sense such that it was considered widely tropics and subtropics worldwide. Even its current restricted circumscription, remains paraphyletic with Fraunhofera Plenckia nested within it. We increased taxon sampling relative previous studies sampled representing greatest morphological diversity throughout...
Floristic sampling was carried out in Serra do Japi Biological Reserve, Jundiaí, state of São Paulo, Brazil, including physiognomies semideciduous montane forest, a type forest formation within the Atlantic Forest domain. Six hundred and sixty one species distributed 129 families were recorded; ten most diverse phanerogam were: Asteraceae (56 species), Fabaceae (37), Rubiaceae (29), Poaceae (25), Solanaceae (24), Cyperaceae (19), Euphorbiaceae Orchidaceae Melastomataceae (17), Piperaceae...
Abstract A new species of Celastraceae, Maytenus megalocarpa, is described and illustrated. The known from only a small number collections eastern Brazil, in the Atlantic Rainforest Bahia Minas Gerais states. It considered endangered given rapid deforestation this biome. readily distinguished its congeners by large, tardily dehiscent fruit that does not open reflexed valves seeds enveloped thick arils. Given remarkable fruits consequent initial doubt about generic position phylogenetic...
The "Serra da Concórdia" is part of the Atlantic Forest phytogeographical domain in Brazilian state Rio de Janeiro and it has a predominant phytophysiognomy Semideciduous Seasonal Forest. This region underwent intense habitat loss fragmentation during 19 th century, due to coffee plantations later pastures. With decline these activities, areas were abandoned, triggering secondary succession. In 2002, "Parque Estadual Serra was established this preserve remaining forest fragments. updated...
Abstract— We present the best sampled phylogenetic analysis of Celastrales, with respect to both character and taxon sampling, use it a natural classification order. Parnassiaceae are highly supported as sister Celastraceae; we recognize families distinct. Pottingeria is member Celastraceae. circumscribe 13 subfamilies in Celastraceae, including new Crossopetaloideae, Maytenoideae, Microtropioideae, Monimopetaloideae, Salaciopsioideae. identified five genera that likely require generic...
A new species of Maytenus has been discovered in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. The taxon, nemorosa, occurs mostly ombrophilous rain forests at an elevation 500 m to 1200 m. nemorosa resembles M. gonoclada but differs from it by possessing oblong-elliptical leaves with entire margins and larger fruits thicker pericarp walls. phylogenetic analysis was conducted nrITS plastid matK regions, including additional taxa available NCBI-GenBank. results places nested within a clade that have...

A new species of Maytenus is described and illustrated. psammopliila apparently endemic to the state Bahia, where it grows in sandy soils dunes 'caatinga' physiognomy. This recognized by its cylindrical or slightly flattened young twigs with lenticels, small ovate coriaceous leaves inflorescences, reduced cymes short pedicellate flowers. It resembles M. rigida, which also occurs same area but differs from margins no thorns inflorescences (cymes vs. fascicles rigida). Neotypification boaria...
Resulting from our taxonomic study of the genus Maytenus, we were faced with necessity to synonymize three species: M. lagoensis gonoclada; andicola apurimacensis; and longipes sieberiana. Lectotypes are elected when appropriate for these species comments about synonyms lectotypifications provided. We also propose a new name—Maytenus fugax—for nemorosa Biral & Lombardi, later homonym (Ecklon Zeyher) Marais.
During a floristic study, carried out in the Parque Estadual Turístico do Alto Ribeira (PETAR), São Paulo state, Southeastern Brazil, Peperomia bernhardiana, poorly known species of Atlantic Forest, has been collected. We present an emended description based on recently collected specimens and provide color photographs fresh specimens. verified need to designate neotype for this name propose one substitute destroyed holotype.
Territorial planning plays a fundamental role in preservation of areas for ecological conservation and environmental management as well providing adequate spaces visitation research prioritizing sustainable relationships between man nature. The present work exhibits methodological proposal that allows the standardization territorial classifications areas.Based on fuzzy logic, proposed model observes particularities area; hence, decision generated classification zones represents is currently...

Peperomia is a mega-diverse herbaceous genus with high species richness in the Neotropics, growing mainly as epiphyte or rupicolous/saxicolous. Fourteen subgenera are recognized based on molecular phylogenies. In this study, contributions to P. subg. Pseudocupula Brazil presented. During an ongoing taxonomic revision of pereskiifolia and allied taxa Brazil, some incongruent circumscriptions were found which discussed here. pereirae f. proposed new synonym rubricaulis, combination status...
