Green-emitting flavonoids were found to selectively accumulate in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), giving fluorescence turn on.
Over a decade passed between Friedman's discovery of the mammalian leptin gene (1) and its cloning in fish (2) amphibians (3). Since 2005, concept synteny conservation (vs. sequence homology) was instrumental identifying genes dozens species, we now have from all major classes vertebrates. This database LEP (leptin), LEPR (leptin receptor), LEPROT (endospanin) has allowed protein structure modeling, stoichiometry predictions, even functional predictions function for most vertebrate classes....
Room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) materials have garnered significant attention owing to its distinctive optical characteristics and broad range of potential applications. However, the challenge remains in producing RTP with more simplicity, versatility, practicality on a large scale, particularly achieving chiral signals within single system. Herein, we show that straightforward effective combination wet spinning twisting technique enables continuously fabricating fibers...
Chiral organic-inorganic hybrid semiconductors (COIHSs) dominated by lead halides have recently gained tremendous interest. Here, we report a lead-free photoluminescent COIHS [R-3-hydroxylpiperidinium]2SbCl5 with bandgap of 3.14 eV. It shows ferroelastic phase transition at 341 K accompanied switchable second-harmonic generation response and presents clear domains, which are rarely found in COIHSs.
In order to facilitate the in vivo study of zinc-related biology, it is essential develop a zinc-selective sensor that exhibits both near-infrared (NIR) emission and larger Stokes shift. A fluorescent sensor, Zinhbo-5, has been constructed by using bis(benzoxazole) ligand with 2, 2'-dipicolylamine (DPA) as metal ion receptor. aqueous solution, Zinhbo-5 high sensitivity (K(d) = 2.58 nM(2) ) selectivity for Zn(2+) cation, revealing about 14-fold fluorescence enhancement upon zinc binding give...
Mitochondria, vital organelles existing in almost all eukaryotic cells, play a crucial role energy metabolism and apoptosis of aerobic organisms. In this work, we report two new flavone-based fluorescent probes, MC-Mito1 MC-Mito2, for monitoring mitochondria living cells. These probes exhibit remarkably low toxicity, good cell permeability, high specificity; these complement the library mitochondrial imaging agents. The dyes give nearly no background fluorescence, their application does not...
A novel squaraine dye (SQ) exhibits improved fluorescence response toward protein detection by incorporation of a zwitterionic structure. With the aid dansylamide (DNSA) substituent, new probe (DNSA-SQ) remarkable selectivity in binding to site I (a specific substructure protein).
In zebrafish, R-cadherin (cadherin-4 or Cdh4) is expressed in the retina and retinorecipient brain regions, suggesting that Cdh4 functions during visual system development. function was examined retinogenesis retinal axon outgrowth using antisense morpholino oligonucleotides mutant construct expression. knockdowns, reduced absent, eyes were small, retinae lacked discrete laminae. Increased cell death produced small eye phenotype. Zn5-, Pax6-, zpr-1-positive cells absent knockdown retinas...
Cadherins are cell surface adhesion molecules that play important roles in development of vertebrate tissues and organs. We studied cadherin2 expression developing zebrafish heart using situ hybridization immunocytochemical methods, we found was strongly expressed by the myocardium embryonic zebrafish. To gain insight into role formation function heart, analyzed cardiac differentiation performance a mutant, glass onion (glo).
We used antisense morpholino oligonucleotide technology to knockdown leptin-(A) gene expression in developing zebrafish embryos and measured its effects on metabolic rate cardiovascular function. Using two indicators of rate, oxygen consumption was significantly lower leptin morphants early development [<48 hours post-fertilization (hpf)], while acid production later (>48 hpf). Oxygen utilization rates <48 hpf 72 could be rescued that wildtype by recombinant coinjected with morpholino....
Abstract The discrimination and detection of phosphate anions have attracted extensive attention due to their important roles in various biological processes. Compared with sensors detect one individual at a time, sensor arrays are able discriminate multiple phosphates simultaneously. In this study, we developed rare earth ions enhanced AuNCs‐based array achieve facile rapid identification (PPi, ADP ATP). (i. e., Ce 3+ , Gd Tm Yb ) can significantly enhance the fluorescence AuNCs through...
Abstract Background Nodals are secreted signaling proteins with many roles in vertebrate development. Here, we identify a new role for Nodal regulating closure of the rostral neural tube zebrafish. Results We find that presumptive forebrain fails to close zebrafish mutants. For instance, cells will give rise pineal organ fail move from lateral edges plate midline diencephalon. The open mutants may be due part reduced function N-cadherin, cell adhesion molecule expressed and required closure....
Cadherin-11/Cdh11 is expressed through early development and strongly during inner ear (otic placode vesicle). Here we show that antisense knockdown of Cdh11 zebrafish interferes with otolith formation. Immunofluorescence labeling showed expression was concentrated on within the otolith. faintly detected at lateral surface (sites cell-cell contact) otic epithelial cells in cytoplasm. Strongly labeled containing puncta were otolymph (the fluid vesicle) associated surface....
