Multipotent human adipose-derived stromal/stem cells (hADSCs) hold a great promise for cell-based therapy many devastating diseases, such as spinal cord injury and stroke. If exogenous hADSCs can be cultured in three-dimensional (3D) scaffold with effective proliferation differentiation capacity, it will better mimic the vivo environment, which have profound impact on therapeutic application of hADSCs. In this study, group elastic-dominant, porous bioscaffolds from photocurable chitosan...

We report a combined experimental and theoretical investigation of the unusual catalytic properties gold nanoparticles in selective hydrogenation 1,3-butadiene. It is found that nanogold catalysts exhibit unique preference toward forming cis-2-butene compared to trans isomer, ratio cis/trans isomers structure-sensitive terms size nanoparticles. Our density functional theory calculations show cis-1,3-butadiene can be preferably adsorbed at edges corners as trans-1,3-butadiene. Moreover,...

Plants subjected to cold stress have been observed accumulate proline, but the underlying regulatory mechanism remains be elucidated. In this study, we identified a pyrroline-5-carboxylate synthetase (P5CS)-encoding gene (CtrP5CS1) from trifoliate orange (Citrus trifoliata L.), cold-hardy citrus species, as critical for cold-induced proline accumulation. CtrTGA2 bound directly TGACG motif of CtrP5CS1 promoter and activated its expression. Moreover, functioned positively in tolerance via...
