Abstract Genome editing is a powerful technique for genome modification in molecular research and crop breeding has the great advantage of imparting novel desired traits to genetic resources. However, fruit tree plantlets remains be established. In this study, we describe induction targeted gene mutation endogenous apple phytoene desaturase ( PDS ) using CRISPR/Cas9 system. Four guide RNAs (gRNAs) were designed stably transformed with Cas9 separately apple. Clear partial albino phenotypes...

Apple (Malus × domestica Borkh.) is a perennial woody plant that undergoes period of dormancy (in cv. Jonathan between late September and mid-December) to survive freezing temperatures winter. DORMANCY-ASSOCIATED MADS-BOX (DAM) genes play important roles in the regulation growth cessation terminal bud formation peach. To understand role DAM orthologs apple, we isolated characterized four DAM-like (designated as MdDAMa, MdDAMb, MdDAMc, MdDAMd) monitored their expression apical buds throughout...

Most deciduous fruit trees cultivated in the temperate zone require a genotype-dependent amounts of chilling exposure for dormancy release and bud break. In Japanese apricot (Prunus mume), DORMANCY-ASSOCIATED MADS-box 6 (PmDAM6) may influence chilling-mediated this study, we attempted to elucidate biological functions PmDAM6 related regulation by analyzing PmDAM6-overexpressing transgenic apple (Malus spp.). We generated 35S:PmDAM6 lines chemically inducible overexpression lines,...

The was expressed reproductive vegetative organs. By contrast, gene, identified as MdMADS5 which is classified into AP1 group, specifically sepals concurrent with sepal formation. Based on these results, may be involved induction a greater...

A 1.3 µm laser has been developed with a butt-jointed selectively grown spot-size converter (SSC). The SSC, vertically tapered waveguide and strained multiquantum well (MQW) active region are independently optimised. was buried semi-insulating InP to reduce optical loss in the SSC. threshold current of 7 mA an output power > 20 mW were obtained. Minimum coupling flat-end fibre 1.06 dB achieved. Long-term stability also confirmed.

Abstract The apple cultivar McIntosh Wijcik, which is a mutant of ‘McIntosh’, exhibits columnar growth phenotype (short internodes, few lateral branches, many spurs, etc.) that controlled by dominant Co gene. candidate gene (MdDOX-Co), encoding 2-oxoglutarate-dependent dioxygenase, located adjacent to an insertion mutation. Non-columnar apples express MdDOX-Co in the roots, whereas aerial parts as well roots. However, function remains unknown. Here, we characterized tobacco plants...
