An ordered draft sequence of the 17-gigabase hexaploid bread wheat (Triticum aestivum) genome has been produced by sequencing isolated chromosome arms. We have annotated 124,201 gene loci distributed nearly evenly across homeologous chromosomes and subgenomes. Comparative analysis subgenomes extant diploid tetraploid relatives showed that high similarity structural conservation are retained, with limited loss, after polyploidization. However, genomes there was evidence dynamic gain,...

The Kondo effect and superconductivity are both prime examples of many-body phenomena. Here we report transport measurements on a carbon nanotube quantum dot coupled to superconducting leads that show delicate interplay between effects. We demonstrate the does not destroy correlations when temperature, which varies for different single-electron states, exceeds gap energy.

We explore the electric-field effect of carbon nanotubes (NTs) in electrolytes. Due to large gate capacitance, Fermi energy shifts order +/- 1 V can be induced, enabling tune NTs from p n-type. Consequently, resistance changes are measured. At zero voltage hole doped air with E_F ? 0.3-0.5 eV, corresponding a doping level 10^{13} cm^{-2}. Hole-doping increases electrolyte.
