Degradation of the endothelial glycocalyx is critical for sepsis-associated lung injury and pulmonary vascular permeability. We investigated whether sulodexide, a precursor synthesis glycosaminoglycans, plays biological role in remodeling improves barrier dysfunction sepsis. The number children with septic shock that were admitted to PICU at Children's Hospital Fudan University who enrolled study was 28. On days one three after enrollment, venous blood samples collected, heparan sulfate,...

Abstract Background Pediatric septic shock is a critical condition associated with high mortality rates, largely due to sepsis-induced immunosuppression. Granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) has been explored as therapeutic intervention counteract this Despite its potential, the efficacy of GM-CSF in pediatric not clearly established. This study aims investigate impact administration on survival rates and identify key predictors treatment outcomes patients. Methods We...

Background Notch signaling is critical for regulating the function of vascular endothelial cells (ECs). However, effect intracellular domain Notch1 (NICD) on EC injury in sepsis remains unclear. Methods We established a cell model dysfunction and induced mouse via lipopolysaccharide (LPS) injection cecal ligation puncture (CLP). Endothelial barrier expression endothelial-related proteins were determined using CCK-8, permeability, flow cytometry, immunoblot, immunoprecipitation assays. The...

Background: Sepsis is defined as a life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by dysregulated host response to infection. Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) expand during sepsis and contribute the development of persistent inflammation-immunosuppression-catabolism syndrome (PICS). However, underlying mechanism remains unclear. Exploring mechanisms MDSCs generation may provide therapeutic targets for improving immune status in late sepsis. Methods: A mouse model was established cecal...

Sepsis is a critical condition affecting patients worldwide. Systemic inflammatory response syndrome in sepsis contributes to organ dysfunction and mortality. The oXiris recently developed continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) hemofilter indicated for the adsorption of cytokines from bloodstream. In our study, septic child, CRRT with three filters, including hemofilter, resulted downregulation biomarkers reduction vasopressors. Herein, we described first report such usage children.
