By October 30, 2022, 76,871 cases of mpox were reported worldwide, with 20,614 in Latin America. This study reports characteristics a case series suspected and confirmed at referral infectious diseases center Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Following the 2022 global mpox outbreak, diagnoses decreased worldwide, even in settings with limited vaccine access. In 2023-2024, a new outbreak emerged Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, highlighting importance of continuous surveillance, preventive measures such as vaccination vulnerable populations, and treatment options, emphasizing equitable health technology distribution.
