Background. Artemisinin-based combination therapy is the first-line treatment for uncomplicated falciparum malaria. This study assessed antimalarial efficacy and safety of a 150 mg arterolane maleate 750 piperaquine phosphate (AM-PQP) in comparison to Coartem (artemether lumefantrine) patients with acute P. Methods. In this open-label, randomized, multicentric, parallel group clinical trial, 240 were randomized receive AM-PQP (160 patients) or (80 patients). Patients monoinfection initial...

Patients with nonmalignant end-stage organ diseases often incur healthcare costs in the last year of life that are disproportionately higher than period prior. Studies on expenditure (HCE) trends these patients have largely focused final life, and examining a longer-term trajectory could better support professionals to target timing methods care management. In this study, we aim describe HCE trajectories disease (ESOD) over 5 years compared against advanced cancer (AC). We conducted...

Recent studies suggest HIV-1 inter-subtype differences in co-receptor usage. We examined the correlation between subtype and usage among treatment-naïve subjects Singapore. Additionally, we investigated whether association was influenced by stage of infection. V3 sequences envelope protein gp120 were obtained from 110 HIV patients genotypic tropism determination performed using Geno2pheno. Two false-positive rate (FPR) cut-offs, 10% 5.75% selected for testing. Subtype assignment viral...

Abstract Background Challenges in prognosticating patients diagnosed with advanced dementia (AD) hinders timely referrals to palliative care. We aim develop and validate a prognostic model predict one-year all-cause mortality (ACM) AD presenting at an acute care hospital. Methods This retrospective cohort study utilised administrative clinical data from Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH).
