Bilophila wadsworthia, a recently described anaerobic gram-negative bacillus, was isolated from blood cultures of two patients with liver abscesses. These isolates exhibited the expected phenotypic characteristics, and identification confirmed by cell wall fatty acid analysis gas-liquid chromatography.
