We report transmission electron microscope observations that provide evidence of deformation twinning in plastically deformed nanocrystalline aluminum. The presence these twins is directly related to the structure, because they are not observed coarse-grained pure propose a dislocation-based model explain preference for and stacking faults materials. These results underscore transition from mechanisms controlled by normal slip those partial dislocation activity when grain size decreases tens...

Thin Pt films on an yttrium iron garnet (YIG = Y(3)Fe(5)O(12)) show ferromagneticlike transport properties, which may impact the functionality of in spin current detection, but do not provide direct quantitative information magnetization. We report magnetic x-ray circular dichroism measurements YIG/Pt(1.5 nm) showing average moment 0.054 μ(B) at 300 K and 0.076 20 K. This observation indicates strong proximity effects induced ordering insulators their contribution to spin-related should be...

The crystal and magnetic structures of single-crystalline hexagonal LuFeO(3) films have been studied using x-ray, electron, neutron diffraction methods. polar structure these are found to persist up 1050 K; the switchability behavior is observed at room temperature, indicating ferroelectricity. An antiferromagnetic order was shown occur below 440 K, followed by a spin reorientation resulting in weak ferromagnetic 130 K. This observation coexisting multiple ferroic orders demonstrates that...

Epitaxial ZnO thin films doped with 7% Mn have been made by reactive rf magnetron sputtering onto (112_0) sapphire substrates at 400 °C. X-ray diffraction measurements reveal that the Zn0.93Mn0.07O film has a (0001) wurtzite single-crystal structure rocking curve width of 0.98°. UV–VIS absorption spectra show band gap 3.25 eV for pure and 3.31 states extending into gap. The Auger electron spectroscopy shows homogeneous distribution in film. magnetic properties measured superconducting...

It was reported that the main chemical constituents in plants of genus Peganum were a serial β ‐carboline and quinoline alkaloids. These alkaloids quantitatively assessed for selective inhibitory activities on acetylcholinesterase (AChE) butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) by vitro Ellman method. The results indicated harmane most potent AChE inhibitor with an IC 50 7.11 ± 2.00 μ M selectivity index (SI, BChE/IC AChE) 10.82. As interest in magnetic devices has increased over the last 20 years, research into nanomagnetism experienced a corresponding growth. Device applications from storage to logic have compelled influence of geometry and finite size on magnetism excitations, particular where smallest dimensions reach important interaction length scales. The dynamical behavior nanoscale magnets is an especially subset research, as these phenomena are both critical for device physics profoundly influenced by size....

Realizing van der Waals (vdW) epitaxy in the 1980s represents a breakthrough that circumvents stringent lattice matching and processing compatibility requirements conventional covalent heteroepitaxy. However, due to weak vdW interactions, there is little control over film qualities by substrate. Typically, discrete domains with spread of misorientation angles are formed, limiting applicability epitaxy. Here, epitaxial growth monocrystalline, Cr5 Te8 2D crystals on monolayer WSe2 chemical...
