An 80-year-old woman presented with the sudden onset of vertigo and vomiting was diagnosed acute cerebellar infarction. Twelve days after onset, she experienced positional vomiting, predominantly in lying-down position, triggered by postural changes immediate or delayed onset. Over 1 month, 23 episodes occurred. Brain computed tomography revealed edema infarcted area, fourth ventricular outlet compression, lateral enlargement. These findings suggest that fluctuations intracranial pressure...
Recent non-invasive brain stimulation techniques in combination with motor training can enhance neuroplasticity and learning. It is reasonable to assume that such neuroplasticity-based interventions constitute a useful rehabilitative tool for patients Parkinson's Disease (PD). Regarding skill training, many kinds of tasks do not involve real movements have been applied PD patients. The purpose this study elucidate whether using mirror visual feedback (MVF) order improve untrained hand...
Rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder is parasomnia characterized by symptoms of dream enactment and loss muscle atonia during rapid sleep. Mild motor impairment present in some patients with presumed to be a risk factor for conversion synucleinopathies. The purpose this study identify mild evaluating finger tapping investigate its pathophysiology. Twenty-three 20 healthy control subjects were recruited the study. We accurately evaluated including amplitude, peak open, close speed...
Abstract We report a 44‐year‐old woman who presented with bilateral weakness of the hands and distal paresthesia arms on next day second COVID‐19 vaccine, gradually progressed ascending legs, sensory ataxia beyond 2 months. She was diagnosed as chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) following vaccine basis clinical electrophysiological findings. This is first case CIDP alone.
Here we report the first case of phenytoin intoxication that was closely associated with hand-foot synkinesis. This suggests a close association between cerebellar dysfunction and In patients synkinesis, lesions not only secondary motor areas but also cerebellum should be considered.
A 78-year-old man was admitted for the treatment of internal carotid artery stenosis. The left occluded and stenosis right progressive. patient had a history renal cholesterol embolism associated with percutaneous peripheral intervention. Stenting successfully performed via brachial artery, not noted after procedure. This case suggests that stenting (CAS) approach is less likely to elicit than CAS femoral approach.
Background: Posterior interosseous neuropathy is an uncommon cause of peripheral dystonia. Case Report: A 62-year-old man awakened and noticed right finger drop. neurological examination revealed posterior with dystonia-like movements. Abnormal movements were predominantly observed in the thumb, ring finger, little finger. Within 2 weeks, muscle weakness fingers had completely improved. However, a brief abnormal posture thumb was persistent. Discussion: The residual may reflect pre-existing...
A 29-year-old man began haloperidol therapy (1.5 mg/d) for severe agitation due to mental stress. He developed jaw opening dystonia at 1 month, and paroxysmal stridor dyspnea rest occurred 5 months. fiberscope revealed both involuntary tongue base retraction airway obstruction (video), suggesting diagnosis of drug-induced oromandibular dystonia. Haloperidol was discontinued. At follow-up year following cessation haloperidol, he reported gradual disappearance within month the 4 month....
A 58-year-old Japanese man with a high parasitemia of Plasmodium falciparum, returning from Uganda, was admitted to our hospital since his consciousness level rapidly deteriorated after the initial dose mefloquine. Despite cleared by quinine day 7, coma remained unchanged and diffuse leukoencephalopathy detected on magnetic resonance image. Steroid pulse therapy initiated 8. Subsequently, neurological manifestations improved he discharged 73 without any sequelae. Pathogenesis P. falciparum...
Abstract COVID‐19 patients often develop neuromuscular complications, and critically ill ICU‐acquired weakness. We report a patient who developed flaccid quadriplegia after ECMO therapy achieved slow but consistent recovery during 14‐month period of sustained holistic rehabilitation including early mobilization to an outdoor environment.
We herein report the first case of occipital neuralgia secondary to spinal cord infarction. A 74-year-old woman suddenly developed numbness and dysmetria in her right arm. Two days later, she a paroxysmal shooting pain posterior part scalp three five times per day. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed hyperintense lesion column dorsal root entry zone at C2 level. The patient was subsequently diagnosed with Diverse etiologies need be considered lesions.
A 71-year-old man developed left hand muscle weakness and numbness 2 weeks after the onset of herpes zoster.A neurological examination revealed severe C8-T1 myotomes moderate-to-severe sensory impairment over C5-T1 dermatomes. We observed zoster scars on palm (PictureA ).T2weighted magnetic resonance imaging a hyperintense lesion in upper, middle, lower trunk brachial plexus dorsal horn at C7-8 level (Picture B-D), patient was diagnosed with
A 41-year-old woman who had been taking paroxetine began tramadol for bilateral ankle pain. few days later, the patient presented acutely with both feet tremors. During a mental arithmetic task, index-finger pointing posture briefly appeared on left side. Co-administration of and increases risk serotonin toxicity. This is first reported case which was associated
Cranial neuropathy is a clinical manifestation of meningeal carcinomatosis (MC); however, the glossopharyngeal and vagus nerves are rarely impaired. Therefore, dysphagia bilateral vocal cord paralysis (BVCP) extremely rare manifestations MC. Here, we present case MC from lung adenocarcinoma presenting with BVCP. An 84-year-old man 4-year history left developed hoarseness. Flexible nasopharyngoscopy revealed Ten days later, patient stridor respiratory distress. A tracheotomy was performed to...
The detailed mechanism underlying diabetic chorea remains uncertain. We present a male patient with recurrent hemichorea late-onset reduced arm swing. explored the association between hyperglycemia, changes in neurological manifestations, and brain magnetic resonance imaging findings. Hyperglycemic control did not prevent following progressive structural putamen. Slow putamen may lead to recurrence of appearance speculated that hyperglycemia-related vasculopathy subsequent play crucial role chorea.
