Advanced tools for cell imaging are of great interest the detection, localization, and quantification molecular biomarkers cancer or infection. We describe a novel photopolymerization method to coat quantum dots (QDs) with polymer shells, in particular, molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs), by using visible light emitted from QDs excited UV light. Fluorescent core-shell particles specifically recognizing glucuronic acid (GlcA) N-acetylneuraminic (NANA) were prepared. Simultaneous...
A new approach is proposed for the synthesis of molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) (synthetic antibodies) as soluble nanogels with sizes close to size real antibodies. To imprint a molecular memory in particles consisting only few polymer chains, an initiator carrying multiple iniferter moieties used. This allows simultaneous initiation several and yields (17 nm, weight (MW) = 97 kDa) good affinity selectivity target.
Seeing molecules: A method using laser-induced photopolymerization was developed to generate highly selective fiber optic sensors in a few seconds that are based on molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) microtips. The fluorescence detection signal enhanced gold nanoparticles. sensor also detects nonfluorescent analytes when fluorescent signaling monomer is incorporated into the MIP.
The synthesis of core-first multi-block star-shaped copolymers via aqueous SET-LRP has been reported for the first time.
The environmental accumulation of plastics worldwide is a consequence the durability material. Alternative polymers, marketed as biodegradable, present potential solution to mitigate their ecological damage. However, understanding biodegradability has been hindered by lack reproducible testing methods. We developed novel method evaluate plastic samples based on monitoring bacterial respiration in aqueous media via quantification CO2 produced, where only carbon source available from polymer....
Despite growing interest in the environmental impact of microplastics, a standardized characterization method is not available. We carried out systematic analysis reliable global data detailing relative abundance polymers freshwaters and estuaries. The were identified according to seven main categories: polyethylene terephthalate, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, polypropylene, polystyrene, polyurethane final category miscellaneous plastic. results show that microplastics comprised chloride...
The molecular-imprinting approach was used to obtain a nanogel preparation capable of catalysing the cross-aldol reaction between 4-nitrobenzaldehyde and acetone. A polymerisable proline derivative as functional monomer mimic enamine-based mechanism aldolase type I enzymes. diketone template create cavity designed imitate intermediate aldol bound using reversible covalent interaction prior polymerisation. By high-dilution polymerisation method, soluble imprinted nanogels were prepared with...
Structure of the NIPAM-based nanogels at air/water interface. Nanogel interfacial behaviour was correlated with and their morphology determined mostly by amount cross-linker.
Natural polyphenols are important dietary antioxidants that significantly benefit human health. Coffee and tea have been shown to largely contribute the intake of these in several populations. More recently, use coffee leaves produce has become a potential commercial target, therefore prompting studies on quantification leaves. In this study variety leaf species, at different development stages, were analyzed using ultra-high pressure liquid chromatography. The results demonstrate both...
Nanogels offer unique advantages, like high surface-to-volume ratio, scalable synthetic methods, and easily tailored formulations, that allow us to control size introduce stimuli-responsive properties. Their potential for drug delivery is significant due their biocompatibility, loading capacity, controlled sustained release. The development of greener sustainable processes essential large-scale applications. We report the synthesis in water covalently cross-linked acrylamide-based nanogels,...
The development of effective neurological treatments remains a challenge due to the low permeation across blood-brain barrier (BBB). use nanoparticles for brain drug delivery is promising, but level BBB crossing low, typically around 0.5-3%. We report synthesis negatively charged N-isopropylacrylamide nanogels (diameter 10 nm) displaying in vitro human model nearly 5-fold higher than previously reported, and permeating parenchyma healthy zebrafish with fully formed BBB....

Biomedical applications of nanoparticles require a fundamental understanding their interactions and behavior with biological interfaces. Protein corona formation can alter the morphology properties nanomaterials, knowledge interfacial complexes, using in situ analytical techniques, will impact development nanocarriers to maximize uptake permeability at cellular In this study we evaluate acrylamide-based nanogels, neutral, positive, negative charges, serum-abundant proteins albumin,...
Abstract Shikimate kinase, despite low sequence identity, has been shown to be structurally a member of the nucleoside monophosphate (NMP) kinase family, which includes adenylate kinase. In this paper we have explored roles residues in P‐loop shikimate forms binding site for nucleotides and is one most conserved structural features proteins. common with many members contains cysteine residue 2 amino acids upstream essential lysine residue; side chains these are form an ion pair. The C13S...
The synthesis and kinetic characterisation of soluble imprinted acrylamide based microgels incorporating arginine tyrosine derivatives as additional functional monomers is reported.
Abstract The synthesis and characterization of water‐soluble imprinted nanogels with enzyme‐like activity in the Kemp elimination is reported together studies that demonstrate how recognition properties, morphology, catalytic nanoparticles can be tuned by use surfactants, such as Tween 20. A detailed kinetic investigation carried out, which shows clear evidence saturation kinetics rule out effects mass transfer. This supported polymeric materials confirms morphological changes resulting from...
In this work, we report the synthesis of novel fluorescent molecules, based on 1,8-naphthalimide thio- and amino-derivatives, designed to display an OFF-ON ON-OFF photoelectron transfer fluorescence switch upon interaction with a proton-donor drug.
