Neurodevelopmental disorder with epilepsy, spasticity, and brain atrophy, first described in 2020, is associated autosomal recessive inheritance of pathogenic variant the TRAPPC4 gene. Given a relatively high carrier frequency, it crucial to recognize consider this diagnosis. We report 2 sisters homozygous variants (c.454+3A>G) gene, diagnosed after an extensive time-consuming clinical investigation. This reviews phenotypic spectrum TRAPPC4-related neurodevelopmental disorder, particularly...

Sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP) is the leading cause of premature mortality among people with epilepsy. Evidence from witnessed and monitored SUDEP cases indicate seizure-induced cardiovascular respiratory failures; yet, underlying mechanisms remain obscure. occurs often during night early morning hours, suggesting that sleep or circadian rhythm-induced changes physiology contribute to fatal event. Resting-state fMRI studies have found altered functional connectivity between...

Background Post-percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) fractional flow reserve ≥0.90 is an accepted marker of procedural success, and a cutoff ≥0.95 has recently been proposed for post-PCI instantaneous wave-free ratio. However, stability nonhyperemic pressure ratios (NHPRs) not well characterized, transient reactive submaximal hyperemia may affect their precision. We performed this study to assess reproducibility NHPRs post-PCI. Methods Results Fifty-seven patients (age, 63.77±10.67...

Due to the low incidence and heterogeneous behavior of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), its prognostic factors are still not well stablished. While several large studies have investigated impact gender in differentiated cancer (DTC), role MTC outcomes remains controversial. We aim identify features, specially focusing on gender. The present study is a retrospective analysis 76 patients diagnosed with between 1984 2018 at Portuguese Comprehensive Cancer Center.Patients presented median age...

Abstract Background Coronary microvascular dysfunction (CMD) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is prognostically important and may also be a cause of persistent angina. The stent balloon inflation technique or material properties influence the degree CMD post‐PCI. Methods Thirty‐six patients with stable angina attending for elective PCI were randomized to either slow drug eluting (DES) implantation (DES group): +2 atm. every 5 s., maintained further 30 s standard std rapid...

Alpha-cell hyperplasia (ACH) is a rare pancreatic endocrine condition. Three types of ACH have been described: functional or nonglucagonoma hyperglucagonemic glucagonoma syndrome, reactive secondary to defective glucagon signaling, and non-functional. Few cases with concomitant neuroendocrine tumors (pNETs) reported its etiology remains poorly understood. A case report non-functional glucagon-producing NET herein presented.
