Previous studies suggest that gut microbiome disruption induced by chemotherapy, dietary deficiencies, and/or antibiotics are associated with increased incidence of acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) following hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). In a murine model antibiotic-induced disruption, Holmes and colleagues show oral administration galactooligosaccharides (GOS) as prebiotic attenuates lethal aGVHD, highlighting the crosstalk between diet microbiota. Their data...
This work investigates X-PACT (X-ray Psoralen Activated Cancer Therapy): a new approach for the treatment of solid cancer. utilizes psoralen, potent anti-cancer therapeutic with current application to proliferative disease and extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP) cutaneous T Cell Lymphoma. An immunogenic role light-activated psoralen has been reported, contributing long-term clinical responses. therapies have to-date limited superficial or scenarios due requirement activation by UVA light,...
Ion channels play an important role in cellular functions, and specific activity can be produced by gating them. One mechanism is intra- or extracellular ligands. Although the ligand-mediated channel process, relationship between ligand binding not well understood. It possible that ligands are involved interactions of different protein domains leading to opening closing. To test this hypothesis, we studied Kir2.3 (HIR) intracellular protons. Our results showed hypercapnia acidification...
Hypercapnia has been shown to affect cellular excitability by modulating K(+) channels. To understand the mechanisms for this modulation, four cloned channels were studied expressing them in Xenopus oocytes. Exposures of oocytes CO(2) 4-6 min produced reversible and concentration-dependent inhibitions Kir1.1 Kir2.3 currents, but had no effect on Kir2.1 Kir6.1 currents. Intra- extracellular pH (pH(i), pH(o)) dropped during exposures. The inhibition currents was mediated reductions both intra-...
The effect of interface roughness on exchange bias for NiFe/FeMn bilayers is investigated polycrystalline films and epitaxial films. Three different systems were investigated: Ta (10 nm)/Ni80Fe20 (10nm)/Fe50Mn50 (20 nm) oxygen plasma-etched Si(100) or Cu/H–Si(100) Ni80Fe20 (10nm)/Fe60Mn40 Cu/H–Si(110). For grown substrates, as the etching time increased, film increases up to 12 nm. ultrathin Cu underlayers, x-ray diffraction shows fcc (111) texture greatly reduced thickness increased....
T-cell receptor variable beta chain (TCRBV) repertoire spectratyping involves the estimation of CDR3 length distributions for monitoring diversity and has proven useful analyses immune reconstitution clonal expansions in graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) graft-versus-leukemia after allogeneic stem cell transplantation. We performed a longitudinal spectratype analysis 23 TCRBV families 28 patients who underwent T cell-depleted peripheral blood Sixteen subsequently developed acute GVHD....
Background. PG490–88 is a water soluble, semisynthetic derivative of novel compound PG490 (triptolide) purified from the Chinese herb Tripterygium Wilfordii Hook F. Methods. was administrated into recipient mice in model (B10.D2→BALB/c) lethal graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) to study effects on GVHD and various steps involved pathological course GVHD. Results. Injection i.p. at dose 0.535 mg/kg/day for first 3 weeks after transplantation protected all recipients developing up 100 days...
Home energy management system is proposed to reduce the influences caused by high ratio penetration of renewable generation, through managing and dispatching residential power consumption in demand side. Being aware how electric consumed a key step this system. Non-intrusive Load Monitoring regarded as most potential method address problem, which aims separate individual appliances households decomposing total consumption. In recent years, NILM framed multi-label classification problem many...
A circuit with two long parallel micron size wires was fabricated by photolithography to calibrate magnetic force microscopy (MFM) tips. The tip phase shift increased as the scan height decreased. With kept constant, a linear relationship found between current amplitude and of at center position separation. estimated moment one order larger than its nominal value. results imply that better control over fabrication process, straight can be used MFM
Room temperature ferromagnetism in Mn-implanted p-Si was enhanced dramatically by implantation of He. A 75 nm end-of-range region found the sample, with large scale and inhomogeneous damaging but preserved Si lattice periodicity. The shows an intrinsic magnetization ∼100 emu/cm3. High resolution transmission electron microscopy x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy measurements indicate that spin polarization dangling bonds rather than Mn impurity major source for magnetism.
Mn-implanted Si with postannealing treatment at 873, 973, 1073, and 1173 K exhibited ferromagnetism room temperature. Ferromagnetism was enhanced as the annealing temperature increased. The largest value of saturation magnetization found in sample annealed K. X-ray absorption near-edge structure spectra showed no formation substitutiona-interstitial Mn-Mn dimmers all samples. On other hand, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy glancing incidence diffraction revealed a variety...
Abstract Despite encouraging early phase clinical trials, decades of research have yet to yield effective cancer vaccine immunotherapies. To determine potential markers for success, we performed a follow-up study HER2-pulsed dendritic cell Phase I trial in advanced HER2+ patients. Surprisingly, found that all treated patients were alive at over 18 years post-treatment. These still possessed significant HER2-specific memory T responses, typified by CD27 expression. The expansion CD27+ cells...
Background/Objectives: Androgen receptor (AR) expression and signaling are critical for the progression of prostate cancer have been therapeutic focus over 50 years. While a variety agents developed to target this axis, many these fail due emergent AR RNA splice variants, such as AR-V7, that can signal independently ligand binding. Other therapies, vaccination against prostate-specific antigens, achieved FDA approvals but fallen short being incorporated standard-of-care therapies advanced...
Ni 80 Fe 20 / 60 Mn 40 (111) epitaxial films grown on Si(110) buffered by Cu were studied systematically varying the individual layer thicknesses with emphasis detailed structure evolution and its influence magnetic properties. The buffer induced face-centered-cubic growth. Film crystallinity improved as thickness t increased, evidenced from full width of half maximum 3.3° for t=1 nm 1.1° t=100 nm. surface roughness increased 0.56 to 1.1 increasing thickness. exchange bias field was around...
