We propose gauging matrix models of string theory to eliminate unwanted nonsinglet states. To this end we perform a discretized light-cone quantization large-$N$ gauge in 1 + dimensions, with scalar or fermionic matter fields transforming the adjoint representation $\mathrm{SU}(N)$. The entire spectrum consists bosonic and closed-string excitations, which are free as $N\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\infty}$. analyze general features such states function cutoff coupling, obtaining good...

Based on free text comments by 1191 students who participated in our national science and engineering fair (SEF) surveys during 2021-22 2022-23, we have learned new information about SEF participation student interest S&E. The positive reasons that mentioned most frequently why increased their S&E were: things; experience doing research; enjoyed/fun experience; career choice. negative was not fun/stressful/boring; a good project; interested science; required to participate. Overall,...

The high resolution X-Ray crystal spectrometer at the JET tokamak has been upgraded with main goal of measuring tungsten impurity concentration. This is important for understanding accumulation in plasma after installation ITER-like wall (main chamber: Be, divertor: W). contribution provides details a focus on aspects spectral analysis and parameter calculation. In particular, we describe determination sensitivity: concentration determination.

We calculate the light-cone wavefunctions of pion by solving meson boundstate problem in a coarse transverse lattice gauge theory using DLCQ. A large-N_c approximation is made and Hamiltonian expanded massive dynamical fields at fixed spacing. In contrast to earlier calculations, we include contributions from states containing many gluonic link-fields between quarks. The renormalised combination covariance conditions on boundstates fitting physical masses M_rho M_pi, decay constant f_pi,...

The KdV and modified integrable hierarchies are shown to be different descriptions of the same 2D gravitational system -- open-closed string theory. Non-perturbative solutions multi-critical unitary matrix models map non-singular `renormalisation group' equation for susceptibility, $[\tilde{P},Q]=Q$. We also demonstrate that large N integrals in external fields, studied by Gross Newman, equal pure closed-string

In this paper, we present the work in implementation of a new calibration for JET real-time polarimeter based on complex amplitude ratio technique and self-validation mechanism data. This allowed easy integration polarimetry measurements into plasma density control (gas feedback control) as well machine protection systems (neutral beam injection heating safety interlocks). The addition was used successfully during 2014 Campaign is envisaged that will operate routinely from 2015 campaign...
