The effects of chemical states Ag on the photoelectrochemical (PEC) properties Ag−TiO2 composites were investigated with Ag(0)−TiO2 and Ag(I)−TiO2 prepared by photoreduction-thermal treatment (PRT) method. comparison photoaction spectra showed that only Ag(0) containing samples had notable photocurrent under visible light (in range 400−800 nm), which was attributed to highly dispersed Ag(0), according DRS, XRD XPS measurements. During measurements Ag(0)−TiO2, it demonstrated photoexcited...

One-dimensional (1-D) TiO2-B nanowires have been synthesized via a facile solvothermal route. The morphology and crystalline structures of the were characterized by using powder X-ray diffraction, low/high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller methods. It is important with calcination treatment at 350 degrees C to maintain 1-D morphologies material in form single-crystalline nanowires. In addition, simple method was used study photogenerated charge transfer...

Bioelectrochemistry is a new interdisciplinary field, which combines biotechnology with electrochemical science, while the emergence of nanotechnology opening horizons for investigation this field. Nanostructures (such as nanoparticles, nanotubes) have similar dimensions to those biomolecules proteins or DNA). The combination nanostructures yields functional nanostructured biointerfaces synergetic properties and functions. recent surge research interest in bioelectrochemical field focused on...

Mutations in the human mitochondrial genome are implicated neuromuscular diseases, metabolic defects, and aging. An efficient simple mechanism for neutralizing deleterious DNA (mtDNA) alterations has unfortunately remained elusive. Here, we report that a 20-ribonucleotide stem-loop sequence from H1 RNA, RNA component of RNase P enzyme, appended to nonimported directs import resultant fusion transcript into mitochondria. The methodology is effective both noncoding RNAs, such as tRNAs, mRNAs....

Mitochondrial dysfunctions play major roles in many diseases. However, how mitochondrial stresses are relayed to downstream responses remains unclear. Here we show that the RNA component of mammalian telomerase TERC is imported into mitochondria, processed a shorter form TERC-53, and then exported back cytosol. We found import regulated by PNPASE, processing controlled mitochondrion-localized RNASET2. Cytosolic TERC-53 levels respond changes functions but have no direct effect on these...

Mesoporous SnO2 doped with a low concentration of ZnO (m-SnO2/ZnO), prepared through hydrothermal method by using cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as structure-directing agent, has been characterized transmission electron microscopy, powder X-ray diffraction, and nitrogen adsorption−desorption technologies. It was found that m-SnO2 showed different properties compared undoped mesoporous (m-SnO2). The former not only had larger Brunauer−Emmett−Teller (BET) surface area but also more...

Mitochondrial dysfunctions play major roles in ageing. How mitochondrial stresses invoke downstream responses and how specificity of the signaling is achieved, however, remains unclear. We have previously discovered that RNA component Telomerase TERC imported into mitochondria, processed to a shorter form TERC-53, then exported back cytosol. Cytosolic TERC-53 levels respond functions, but no direct effect on these suggesting cytosolic functions mitochondria as signal functions. Here, we show...

Mammalian mitochondrial genome encodes a small set of tRNAs, rRNAs, and mRNAs. The RNA synthesis process has been well characterized. How the RNAs are degraded, however, is poorly understood. It was long assumed that degradation happens in matrix where transcription translation machineries reside. Here we show contrary to assumption, mammalian occurs intermembrane space (IMS) IMS-localized RNASET2 enzyme degrades RNAs. This provides new paradigm for understanding metabolism transport.
