Abstract Syntheses suitable for large laboratory‐scale working, are described thiocytosine, cytosine, 4‐hydroxypyrimidinc, 4‐amino‐pyrimidine, 2 : 4‐ and 4: 6‐diaminopyrimidincs, uracil, 4‐amino‐6‐ hydroxypyrunidine several of their derivatives. The majority these syntheses start from thiouracil, which has recently become plentiful; all involve replacement a thiol‐group by −NH , ‐OH or‐H.

Multiple techniques have been employed for the repair of abdominal incisional hernias with varying rates success. Primary fascial apposition and prosthetic implantation associated high secondary recurrence, infection, other complications, often due to insufficient alleviation tension implant intolerance. This study evaluates recurrent multilayered acellular dermal allograft (AlloDerm; LifeCell Corporation, Branchburg, NJ) musculofascial separation. Patients or were treated between January...

Palmar plate fixation of distal radial fractures is becoming a standard treatment for this common injury. Ruptures the extensor pollicis longus tendon have been reported in 8.6% cases after procedure. Although palmar has also associated with flexor (FPL) problems, majority pre-date use newer anatomically precontoured locking plates. In paper seven FPL rupture are presented. This complication does not appear to be unique one type implant. The possible aetiologies ruptures discussed and ways...

The purpose of this study was to determine how well the active range motion and forces required achieve motions are maintained following cadaveric implantation ball-and-socket style total wrist arthroplasty (TWA). An simulator used produce flexion, extension, radioulnar deviation, dart-thrower's motion, circumduction in 14 fresh-frozen wrists before after TWA. Identical tendon displacements were applied five major flexors extensors control presurgery postsurgery. Motion trials recorded using...

Abstract A greatly improved method of preparation 4:5‐diaminopyrimidine, which is an important starting material for pteridine and purine syntheses, described in detail. The route from thiouracil involves eight stages, but purifications, except that the final product, have been avoided.

SUMMARY A major feature of the pathology induced by Theileria annulata is acute lymphocytic proliferation, and this study investigates mechanisms underlying intrinsic ability T. annulata-infected monocytes to induce naive autologous T cells proliferate. Different clones expressed different but constant levels MHC class II, varying from < 1.0 × 105 1.5 106 molecules/cell, as measured saturation binding. However, no correlation was found between level II expression cell proliferation....

The treatment of 2-hydrazinopyrimidines (1) with acylating agents under appropriate conditions is used to prepare s-triazolo[4,3-a]pyrimidine (6a) and its derivatives bearing alkyl or aryl groups at the 3-, 5-, 6- , 7-position. These compounds rearrange in acid alkali give corresponding s-triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines (7). Rates for such isomerizations increase steeply range pH 10-12.5; acid, they reach maxima values approximately pKa each substance (in 1.5-2.5) fall off on both sides....

Methylations of heterocyclic systems, such as benzimidazole, naphth[2,3-c]imidazole, imidazo[4,5-c]-pyridine, purine, pyridine, pyrimidine, pyridazine and s-triazolo[4,3-b]pyridazine, which bore SH, NH and/or OH groups, were carried out with dimethylformamide dimethyl acetal to give the corresponding S-, N- O-methyl derivatives in high yields. Selective methylation some compounds containing both SH groups took place first S-methyl subsequently S,N-dimethyl derivatives. No side reactions,...
