Abstract Syntheses suitable for large laboratory‐scale working, are described thiocytosine, cytosine, 4‐hydroxypyrimidinc, 4‐amino‐pyrimidine, 2 : 4‐ and 4: 6‐diaminopyrimidincs, uracil, 4‐amino‐6‐ hydroxypyrunidine several of their derivatives. The treatment of 2-hydrazinopyrimidines (1) with acylating agents under appropriate conditions is used to prepare s-triazolo[4,3-a]pyrimidine (6a) and its derivatives bearing alkyl or aryl groups at the 3-, 5-, 6- , 7-position.
