Xenograft outcomes are dictated by xenoantigen expression, for example, Gal alpha1, 3Gal (Gal), but might also depend on differing vascular responses. We investigated whether differential gene expression in kidney and cardiac xenografts correlate with development of thrombotic microangiopathy (TM) consumptive coagulation (CC). Immunosuppressed baboons underwent miniswine or hDAF pig (n = 6) heart 7), Gal-transferase gene-knockout (GalT-KO) (thymo)kidney transplantation 14). Porcine cDNA...

Renal ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury is unavoidable in kidney transplantation and frequently influences both short- long-term allograft survival rates. One of the major events I/R generation cytotoxic oxygen radicals. Recently, hydrogen gas has been reported to display antioxidant properties protective effects against organ dysfunction induced by various injuries. We investigated whether hydrogen-rich University Wisconsin (HRUW) solution attenuates renal cold injury. We prepared HRUW a...

Background. The chemokine receptors CCR5 and CXCR3 are expressed by T cells macrophages. We examined effects of a CCR5/CXCR3 antagonist (TAK), with particular focus on the role macrophages, in rat kidney transplant model. Methods. Dark Agouti kidneys were transplanted into Lewis rats. recipients treated daily 10 mg/kg TAK posttransplant days 0 to 14 and/or 2 cyclosporine A (CsA) 5. Graft survival, histological changes, expression chemokines macrophages studied. Results. Treatment alone...

One hundred fifty-four cases of infantile esotropia and acquired surgically treated before the age seven were followed for a minimum five years. We found 44% 60% converted to phoria with 20% having postoperative exotropia. Eight 10 years seemed be turning point from Spontaneous decrease accommodative convergence most important causative factor in relation secondary Long-term follow-up revealed residual angle deviation decreased time undercorrected resolved spontaneously. Therefore, it is...

The clinical utility of cyclosporin A (CsA) has been limited by its nephrotoxicity, which is characterized tubular atrophy, interstitial fibrosis and progressive renal impairment. Hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), plays diverse roles in the regeneration kidney following acute failure, reported to protect against salvage injury acting as a renotropic anti-fibrotic factor. Here, we investigated protective effects HGF gene therapy on CsA-induced nephrotoxicity using an electroporation-mediated...

Cyclosporine A (CsA) has improved short-term results in renal transplantation. However, its toxicities have been serious problems clinical patients undergoing long-term administration. It is necessary to develop a nonnephrotoxic immunosuppressant that allows reducing doses of CsA. The authors tested the effect new pyrazolotriazin compound, FR167653 (FR), inhibits production proinflammatory cytokines, using rat acute-rejection model (Wistar-Lewis).The first examined adverse reactions FR naive...
