ABSTRACT Fish oil rich in omega‐3 polyunsaturated fatty acids ( n ‐3 PUFAs) improves rodent glucose homeostasis and insulin sensitivity through unknown mechanisms. We investigated the involvement of adipocyte Rictor/mTORC2 as a mediator fish PUFA eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) effects. Male mice bearing or not deficiency adipocytes were fed isocaloric high fat diets produced either with lard (HFD) (HFn3) evaluated for sensitivity. HFn3 intake improved tolerance sensitivity, increased uptake...

Mechanistic target of rapamycin complex (mTORC)1 activity is increased in adipose tissue obese insulin-resistant mice, but its role the regulation inflammation unknown. Herein, we investigated effects adipocyte mTORC1 deficiency on and glucose homeostasis. For this, mice with raptor deletion controls fed a chow or high-fat diet were evaluated for body mass, adiposity, homeostasis, inflammation. Despite reducing promoted hepatic steatosis, insulin resistance, (increased infiltration...

The mechanisms and involvement of uncoupling protein 1 (UCP1) in the protection from obesity insulin resistance induced by intake a high-fat diet rich omega-3 (n-3) fatty acids are investigated.C57BL/6J mice fed either low-fat (control group) or one two isocaloric diets containing lard (HFD) fish oil (HFN3) as fat source evaluated for body weight, adiposity, energy expenditure, glucose homeostasis, inguinal white interscapular brown adipose tissue (iWAT iBAT, respectively) gene expression,...

Cold acclimation and PPARγ agonism combined markedly increase brown white adipose tissue total UCP1 content mRNA levels of thermogenesis-related proteins. Higher protein did not result in higher energy expenditure. The high thermogenic capacity induced by cold-exposed animals increases animals' body temperature response to the β3-adrenergic agonist CL316,243.

Panicum maximum Jacq. 'Mombaça' (C4) was grown in field conditions with sufficient water and nutrients to examine the effects of warming elevated CO2 concentrations during winter. Plants were exposed either ambient temperature regular atmospheric (Control); (600 ppm, eC); canopy (+2°C above temperature, eT); or (eC+eT). The temperatures controlled by free-air enhancement (T-FACE) mini enrichment (miniFACE) facilities. most green, expanding, expanded leaves highest leaf appearance rate (LAR,...

BAT and iWAT mTORC2 is inhibited by cold acclimation, but its residual activity required for cold-induced increases in total UCP-1 content thermogenic capacity, not glucose uptake mTORC1 activity. The impaired capacity induced adipocyte deficiency are compensated activation of muscle shivering cold-acclimated mice.

Scope Glucose homeostasis and progression of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) hepatomegaly in severe lipoatrophic mice their modulation by intake a diet rich omega 3 ( n ‐3) acids (HFO) are evaluated. Methods results Severe induced PPAR‐γ deletion exclusively adipocytes (A‐PPARγ KO) littermate controls WT) evaluated for glucose mass, proteomics, lipidomics, inflammation, fibrosis. Lipoatrophic heavier than controls, severely intolerant, hyperinsulinemic, develop NAFLD characterized...

Abstract Chronic and excessive glucocorticoid (GC) exposure can cause Cushing's syndrome, resulting in fat accumulation selected body areas. Particularly the brown adipose tissue (BAT), GC acts negatively, whitening of tissue. We hypothesized that dysregulation microRNAs by could be an additional mechanism to explain its negative actions BAT. Male Wistar rats were divided into two groups: (1) Control sham (2) group was administered dexamethasone 6.25 mg/200 μL via osmotic pump implantation...

Abstract Skeletal muscle responds for most of the insulin-stimulated glucose disposal at postprandial state, impacting homeostasis. Polyphenols were shown to prevent obesity-associated intolerance and peripheral insulin resistance in animal models, but implication skeletal these effects is unclear. We investigated role polyphenolic extracts from jaboticaba ( Plinia (Vell.) Berg) (PEJ), a Brazilian native species, on diet-induced obese mice. PEJ administration was associated with an increase...
