The flavour changing neutral current decay b→sγ has been detected in hadronic Z decays collected by ALEPH at LEP. signal is isolated lifetime-tagged bb̄ events the presence of a hard photon associated with system high momentum and rapidity hadrons. background processes are normalised from data themselves. inclusive branching ratio measured to be(3.11±0.80stat±0.72syst)×10−4,consistent Standard Model expectation via penguin processes.
Previously published and as yet unpublished QCD results obtained with the ALEPH detector at LEP1 are presented. The unprecedented statistics allows detailed studies of both perturbative non-perturbative aspects strong interactions to be carried out using hadronic Z tau decays. presented include precise determinations coupling constant, tests its flavour independence, SU(3) gauge structure QCD, study coherence effects, measurements single-particle inclusive distributions two-particle...
We consider QCD $t\overline{t}\ensuremath{\gamma}$ and $t\overline{t}Z$ production at hadron colliders as a tool to measure the $tt\ensuremath{\gamma}$ $ttZ$ couplings. At Tevatron it may be possible perform first, albeit not very precise, test of vector axial couplings in production, provided that more than $5\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{f}\mathrm{b}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ integrated luminosity are accumulated. The cross section is too small observable. CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) will probe...

Several years ago measurements at the Fermilab Tevatron proton-antiproton collider showed top quarks to be produced preferably in proton direction and antitop antiproton direction. The size of such asymmetries was not expected standard model this sparked intensive effort. This article reviews current theoretical experimental progress understanding asymmetries. revised calculations are now relatively good agreement. LHC produces large quantities can study related, but different, measures...
We present an up-to-date overview of the problem top quark mass determination. assess need for precision in extraction LHC era together with main theoretical and experimental issues arising collect document existing results on determination at hadron colliders map prospects future $$e^+e^-$$ colliders. a collection estimates ultimate various methods LHC.
Two samples of exclusive semileptonic decays, 579 B0 →D∗+ℓ−νℓ events and 261 → D+ℓ−νℓ events, are selected from approximately 3.9 million hadronic Z decays collected by the ALEPH detector at LEP. From reconstructed differential decay rate each sample, product form factor F(ω) zero recoil D(∗)+ meson CKM matrix element |Vcb| measured to be FD∗+(1)|Vcb| = (31.9 ± 1.8stat 1.9syst) × 10−3, FD+(1)|Vcb| (27.8 6.8stat 6.5syst) 10−3. The ratio factors FD+(1) FD∗+(1) is FD+(1)FD∗+(1) 0.87 0.22stat...
We propose a kinematical enhancement of the t tbar charge asymmetry at LHC by selecting events with centre mass frame highly boosted along beam axis. This selection increases asymmetries and their significance up to factor two in rather model-independent fashion. Hence, it can be perfect complement enhance model discrimination LHC.
We point out that the stringent lower bounds on masses of additional electrically neutral and charged Higgs bosons crucially depend flavour structure their Yukawa interactions. show these can easily be evaded by introduction flavour-changing currents in sector. As an illustration, we study phenomenology a two doublet model with texture singling third family quarks leptons. combine constraints from low-energy physics measurements, LHC measurements 125 GeV boson rates, searches for new heavy...
CP-odd scalars are an integral part of many extensions the Standard Model. Recently, electroweak-scale pseudoscalars have received increased attention in explaining diffuse gamma-ray excess from Galactic Centre. Elusive due to absence direct couplings gauge bosons, these particles receive only weak constraints searches at LEP or performed during first LHC runs. We investigate LHC's sensitivity probing a scalar mass range $$20 \le m_A 100$$ GeV via di-top-associated production using...
We consider QCD $t\overline{t}Z$ production at the LHC with $Z\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\overline{\ensuremath{\nu}}\ensuremath{\nu}$ and all-hadronic $t\overline{t}$ decays, i.e. $pp\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\mathrm{p\ensuremath{\llap{\not\;}}}}_{T}b\overline{b}+4$ jets, as a tool to measure $ttZ$ couplings. This channel has significantly larger cross section than those where $Z$ boson decays leptonically. However, $t\overline{t}$, $b\overline{b}+4$ jet, $t\overline{t}j$, $t\overline{t}jj$ give...
