The draft genome of the moss model, Physcomitrella patens, comprised approximately 2000 unordered scaffolds. In order to enable analyses structure and evolution we generated a chromosome-scale assembly using genetic linkage as well (end) sequencing long DNA fragments. We find that 57% comprises transposable elements (TEs), some which may be actively transposing during life cycle. Unlike in flowering plant genomes, gene- TE-rich regions show an overall even distribution along chromosomes....

Abstract Plants evolved efficient multifaceted acclimation strategies to cope with low temperatures. Chloroplasts respond temperature stimuli and participate in sensing acclimation. However, very little is known about the involvement of chloroplast genes their expression plant chilling tolerance. Here we systematically investigated cold tobacco seedlings over 2 days exposure temperatures by examining responses genome copy number, transcript accumulation translation, photosynthesis, cell...

Abstract Nowadays optimization problems become difficult and complex, traditional methods inefficient to reach global optimal solutions. Meanwhile, a huge number of meta-heuristic algorithms have been suggested overcome the shortcomings methods. Tunicate Swarm Algorithm (TSA) is new biologically inspired algorithm which mimics jet propulsion swarm intelligence during searching for food source. In this paper, we an enhancement TSA, named Enhanced (ETSA), based on novel strategy improve...

The Arabidopsis thaliana BLADE-ON-PETIOLE genes encode a pair of transcriptional coactivators that regulate lateral organ architecture by promoting cell differentiation in their proximal regions. To gain insight into the roles BOP early land plant evolution, we characterized functions Physcomitrella patens BOP1 and BOP2 negative regulator Pp-miR534a. We show ΔPpMIR534a mutants lacking mature Pp-miR534a, cleavage PpBOP1/2 is abolished, leading to elevated transcript levels. These...

SummaryThe effects of aminoethoxyvinylglycine (AVG; ReTain®) and 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP; SmartFreshTM) on the biosynthesis aroma volatiles overall quality in 'Delbarde Estivale', an early apple variety, are reported for first time. Apple fruit were treated with AVG 3 weeks before commercial harvest, following standard procedures. 1-MCP was applied directly after harvest. Treated untreated kept at room temperature analysed periodically thereafter. The results indicated that both...

Blueberries are highly perishable fruits, and consequently, storage under high CO2 low O2 levels is recommended to preserve the appreciated polyphenols. However, might be detrimental for certain cultivars. The aim of this study was investigate impact conditions on various quality parameters, including polyphenol composition in 'Duke' berries. Results show that 18 kPa CO2, coupled with 3 O2, resulted accelerated softening berries, which accompanied by lower compared other hexosides...
