Sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors reduce the risk of hospitalization for heart failure and cardiovascular death among patients with chronic a left ventricular ejection fraction 40% or less. Whether SGLT2 are effective in higher remains less certain.
Multiple studies have demonstrated that cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) effectively improves the prognosis of heart failure. CRT has been proven to improve patients' quality life and reduce risk readmission death in selected patients. Nevertheless, a notable proportion individuals undergoing showed no response. Therefore, we conducted this study describe characteristics reported outcomes 1 year after discharge Vietnam, along with predictors non-response CRT. This was multicenter,...
Compared to heart failure (HF) with reduced ejection fraction, HF preserved fraction (HFpEF), and mildly (HFmrEF) are increasing in prevalence, yet little is known about the geographic variation patient characteristics, treatments outcomes among these two phenotypes. The aim of this study was investigate differences HFpEF HFmrEF.
We aimed to evaluate the microbiological characteristics and risk factors for mortality of infective endocarditis in two tertiary hospitals Ho Chi Minh City, south Vietnam.A retrospective study 189 patients (120 men, 69 women; mean age 38 ± 18 years) with diagnosis probable or definite (IE) according modified Duke Criteria admitted The Heart Institute Tam Duc Hospital between January 2005 December 2014.IE was related a native valve 165 (87.3%), prosthetic 24 (12.7%). Of our series, culture...
Stress is considered to be an emotional state deserving of special attention, as it brings about harmful effects on human health when exposed in the long term. may also induce general risks, including headaches, sleep disorders, and cardiovascular diseases. Continuous monitoring emotion can help patients suffering from psychiatric disorders better understand themselves promote well-being public general. Recent advancements wearable technologies biosensors enable a decent level stress...
Achalasia is an uncommon disorder affecting esophageal motility. Occasionally, the appearance of a dilated esophagus in achalasia may resemble extracardiac tumor when observed through transthoracic echocardiography. Left atrial compression due to extensive dilation also rare, potentially leading hemodynamic compromise. Here, we present rare case involving left caused by achalasia, with echocardiographic findings mimicking those tumor.
Patients with heart failure (HF) mildly reduced or preserved ejection fraction in Asia may have different clinical characteristics and outcomes compared patients from other parts of the world.
Objectives The aim of our work is to investigate the clinical characteristics coronary artery fistula (CAF) anomalies in South Vietnam. Methods This a retrospective analysis 119 patients with diagnosis definite CAF between January 1992 and April 2016. demographic, clinical, echocardiographic, angiographic management short-term outcomes are described. Results median age was 15 years (range, 1-79 years), 49 male (41%) 70 female (59%). There were 77 symptomatic (64.7%) 91 (76.5%) who presented...
To evaluate the association between decrease in resting heart rate (RHR) and occurrence of composite cardiac clinical outcomes coronary artery disease (CAD) patients after bisoprolol treatment. This phase IV, multi-national, single-arm, open-label, non-randomized, observational trial was conducted October 2011 July 2015 across 42 hospitals from China, South Korea Vietnam.Analysis 866 (mean age 63.85 ± 10.35; mean RHR at baseline 75.71 6.87 bpm intent-to-treat [ITT]; 75.56 6.73 efficacy...
Abstract Background Resting heart rate (RHR) is considered as a strong predictor of total mortality and hospitalization due to failure in hypertension patients. Bisoprolol fumarate, second-generation beta-adrenoreceptor blockers (β-blocker) commonly prescribed drug manage hypertension. The present study was retrospectively evaluate changes the average RHR its association with cardiovascular outcomes bisoprolol-treated coronary artery disease (CAD) patients from CAD treated bisoprolol...
Abstract Background Atrial arrhythmias encompass a wide range of abnormal cardiac rhythms including atrial fibrillation, flutter, and tachycardia. Patients with heart failure reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) have increased risk arrhythmias, ultimately leading to morbidity. Baroreflex Activation Therapy (BAT) employs an implantable device increase parasympathetic nervous system activity by stimulating the carotid baroreceptors thereby reducing afterload symptoms. In our prior study, BAT...
A ductus arteriosus aneurysm is a rare congenital lesion with localized saccular or tubular dilation of the arteriosus. This usually appears in all ages. Some case reports suggest most common age diagnosis less than 2 months. We reported an asymptomatic neonates. Echocardiography at days revealed connected to pulmonary artery. Computed tomography angiogram showed thrombus end. It resolved spontaneously six months life without serious complications.
Objectives The association between osteoporosis and atherosclerosis remains controversial. We sought to define the relationship carotid intima-media thickness bone mineral density (BMD) in individuals of Vietnamese background. Design setting Cross-sectional study Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Participants involved 1460 (559 men) aged 50 years older (average age 59 years) who were randomly recruited from community. Outcome measures BMD at femoral neck lumbar spine was measured by dual-energy...
Abstract Background A large and growing fraction of the global heart failure (HF) population lives in Asia. One-fifth participants DELIVER (Dapagliflozin Evaluation to Improve Lives Patients with Preserved Ejection Fraction Heart Failure) trial were enrolled from Asia, providing a rich source contemporary data understand their unique clinical profiles responses sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibition. Purpose To assess differences characteristics, outcomes, response dapagliflozin...
