Abstract The goal of this study was to test the role cellular senescence plays in increased inflammation, chronic liver disease, and hepatocellular carcinoma seen mice null for Cu/Zn‐Superoxide dismutase (Sod1KO). To inhibit senescence, wildtype (WT) Sod1KO were given senolytics, dasatinib, quercetin (D + Q) at 6 months age when begin exhibiting signs accelerated aging. Seven D Q treatment reduced expression p16 livers WT levels several senescence‐associated secretory phenotype factors...

Abstract The skeletal muscle research field generally accepts that nuclei in fibers (ie, myonuclei) are post-mitotic and unable to proliferate. Because our deuterium oxide (D2O) labeling studies showed DNA synthesis tissue, we hypothesized resident myonuclei can replicate vivo. To test this hypothesis, used a mouse model temporally labeled with GFP followed by D2O during normal cage activity, functional overload, satellite cell ablation. During observed enrichment into myonuclear 7 out of...

Abstract Background Skeletal muscle mass and strength diminish during periods of disuse but recover upon return to weight bearing in healthy adults are incomplete old muscle. Efforts improve recovery older individuals commonly aim at increasing myofibrillar protein synthesis via mammalian target rapamycin (mTOR) stimulation despite evidence demonstrating that has chronically elevated levels complex 1 (mTORC1) activity. Among metal-based nanoparticles, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are particularly appealing because of their stability, functionality, and documented antimicrobial properties. AgNPs also offer the possibility different surface modifications. In this work, we functionalized with thiobarbituric acid or 11-mercaptoundecanoic residues to improve nanoparticles’ biological activities. Subsequently, assessed physicochemical properties newly synthesized using a wide range biophysical methodologies,...

C60 fullerene as a potent free radical scavenger and antioxidant could be beneficial means for neurodegenerative disease prevention or cure. The aim of the study was to define effects administration on mitochondrial dysfunction oxidative stress disorders in 3-nitropropionic acid (3-NPA)-induced rat model Huntington’s disease. Animals received 3-NPA (30 mg/kg i.p.) once day 3 consecutive days. applied at dose 0.5 body weight, i.p. daily over 5 days before (C60 pre-treatment) after exposure...

Using a multiomics approach, we show that 17α-E2 alleviates HFD-induced metabolic detriments in skeletal muscle by altering bioactive lipid intermediates, inflammatory cytokines, and the abundance of proteins related to lipolysis contraction. The positive effects occur both sexes but differ their outcome.

With the rapid and continuous emergence of antimicrobial resistance, bacterial infections became a significant global healthcare concern. One proposed strategies to combat multidrug-resistant pathogens is use additional compounds, such as natural biologically active substances, adjuvants for existing antibiotics. In this study, we investigated potential caffeine, widely consumed alkaloid, modulate antibacterial effects antibiotics commonly used in clinical practice. We disc diffusion assay...

Abstract Background Ageing and cachexia cause a loss of muscle mass over time, indicating that protein breakdown exceeds synthesis. Deuterium oxide (D 2 O) is used for studies turnover because the advantages long‐term labelling, but these methods introduce considerations have been largely overlooked when studying conditions gain or loss. The purpose this study was to demonstrate importance accounting change in mass, non‐steady state, during D O labelling while also exploring contribution...
