Growth in bacterial populations generally depends on the environment (availability and quality of nutrients, presence a toxic inhibitor, product inhibition..). Here, we build general model to describe action bacteriostatic antibiotic, assuming that this drug inhibits essential autocatalytic cycles involved cell metabolism. The can various types antibiotics confirms existence two distinct regimes growth-dependent susceptibility, previously identified only for ribosome targeting antibiotics....
To study the relationship between CD4+ cell response after initiation of protease inhibitors and occurrence opportunistic infections survival.Prospective observational cohort study.HIV-1-seropositive subjects followed-up in HIV centres Bordeaux University Hospital, Southwest France who were prescribed at least one available inhibitor January December 1996 included this analysis. A Cox model estimated independent effect baseline covariates response, considered as a time-dependent covariate,...
We prospectively assessed the prevalence of occult hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection by investigating HBV replication in 160 human immunodeficiency (HIV)-infected patients with isolated antibodies to core antigen. This was 0.6% (1 case/160 patients; 95% confidence interval, 0%-3.4%). A second serum sample collected later from 52 patients. DNA once again undetectable all patients, except for sole patient who had previously been found be positive.
Cystic lymphoepithelial lesions of salivary glands (CLLSG) are nodular or diffuse gland enlargements that observed in patients who tested positive for human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1). Two cases CLLSG reported. Particular emphasis is placed on the presence HIV-1 major-core protein (P24), RNA sequences, Epstein-Barr (EBV) DNA and lymphocyte receptor gene rearrangement. Lymphoid alterations consisted explosive hyperplasia with a prominent follicular reticular dendritic cell (DRC)...

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the prevalence of antibodies to hepatitis C virus and serological markers for B infection in patients with HIV. Design: Cross sectional survey. Setting: Aquitaine, southwestern France, 1991-94. Subjects: 1935 HIV positive seen at least once since June 1991. Main outcome measures: Presence were detected by second or third generation enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) recombinant immunoblot (RIBA) ELISA....
Abstract After initiation of a treatment for human immunodeficiency virus type 1 infection containing protease inhibitor, immune restoration associated with increases in CD4-positive (CD4+) T lymphocyte count may be delayed. In sample patients who had been prescribed inhibitors the first time, authors tested to see whether there was minimal duration CD4+ cell increase before an impact on occurrence opportunistic infections. The evolution (difference between time t and baseline) modeled using...
We performed a retrospective study to evaluate, under routine circumstances, the tolerance and immunovirological changes associated with antiretroviral regimens that contain nevirapine in 137 patients (88% were experienced). During mean follow-up of 11 months, 33% reported side effects attributed nevirapine, 21% discontinued treatment because poor tolerance. Administration antihistamines or corticosteroids at initiation was not protective against adverse events (relative risk, 0.82; 95%...
To compare the efficacy and safety of a triple nucleoside combination to protease inhibitor-containing regimen as first-line antiretroviral therapy (ART) in HIV-1-infected patients.Open-label study ART-naive adults, randomized receive either Combivir (lamivudine 150 mg/zidovudine 300 mg twice daily) + abacavir (300 daily), or nelfinavir (750 every 8 h) for 48 weeks. Plasma HIV-1 RNA, CD4 cell count adverse events were assessed at baseline weeks 4, 8, 16, 24, 32, 40 48.195 subjects (131 men,...
We investigated the relationship of diabetes and prediabetes with cognitive performances, assessed through raw test z scores according to neurocognitive impairment (NCI) classification in a cohort individuals infected HIV.The ANRS CO3 Aquitaine is prospective hospital-based HIV-1-infected patients under routine clinical management 6 public hospitals southwestern France. Between 2007 2009, an ancillary study consisted neuropsychological battery 10 tests at baseline 2-year follow-up. The...

Summary The aim of this study was to describe the frequency and significance isolated antibodies against hepatitis B virus (HBV) core antigen (HBc) in 2185 HIV‐infected patients Aquitaine Cohort. Antibodies HBc were found 372 subjects (17%). Patients with anti‐HBc more frequently coinfected C (HCV) (58.2%) than those who anti–HB surface (HBs) antibody positive (22.9%, P <0.001) dually reactive anti‐HBs/anti‐HBc (27.3%, <0.001). These results suggest interactions between HBV HCV. As...
Using a case-control study design, we studied the factors associated with HIV-related avascular necrosis (AN). During 6-year period, 12 symptomatic AN cases were validated, and each case was individually matched 3 control cases. A conditional logistic regression model showed that current alcohol consumption history of steroid use only occurrence AN.
Hepatic steatosis is a common feature in liver biopsies from patients with chronic hepatitis C and associated fibrosis progression. Patients HIV infection virus (HCV) coinfection have more rapid progression of than HCV alone. The prevalence factors hepatic are not well defined HCV-HIV-coinfected patients.Steatosis was assessed among 148 the Aquitaine Cohort. Steatosis graded as follows: none, mild (1%-10% hepatocytes), moderate (11%-30%), severe (31%-60%), massive (more 60%). Epidemiologic,...
Objectives To study the epidemiological trends, clinical patterns, evolution and prognosis of HIV infection in women. Design Cohort 1816 HIV-infected patients. Results Up to 1 January 1991, 483 (26.6%) patients reported Groupe d'Epidémiologie Clinique du SIDA en Aquitaine surveillance system were The male-to-female ratio has decreased progressively (3.4:1 1985; 2.7:1 1990) over time. Fifty per cent women are or have been intravenous drug users (IVDU). proportion heterosexually acquired...
In this study, named the Zephir study (Telzir-pharmacokinetics), 121 antiretroviral-experienced human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) patients failing on highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) were included in a prospective cohort and received fosamprenavir-ritonavir (700 mg/100 mg twice day)-based regimen. The impact of baseline HIV type 1 (HIV-1) mutations, pharmacokinetic (PK) parameters, genotype inhibitory quotient (GIQ) virological response at week 12 (W12) was assessed. reverse...
Purpose The objective of this paper is to study the relevance a specific approach services advertising by testing absolute and relative impact product/service variable on strategy. Design/methodology/approach A content 4,233 press advertisements, taken from generalist magazines, was conducted using an original analytical framework based competitive advantage. This used measure strategy following variables: type offer, market industry. Findings research indicates that three variables...
To evaluate drug use (alcohol, tobacco, cannabis and other drugs) its association with mean CD4/CD8 T cell count ratio, a marker of chronic inflammation, in virally suppressed people living HIV-1 (PLWH) Nouvelle Aquitaine, France.A multi-centric, cross-sectional analysis was conducted 2018-19 the QuAliV study-ANRS CO3 AQUIVIH-NA cohort. Tobacco, alcohol, cannabis, (poppers, cocaine, amphetamines, synthetic cathinones, GHB/GBL) were self-reported. CD4 CD8 counts viral load measures, ± 2 years...
