Abstract Tea is an important global beverage crop and largely clonally propagated. Despite previous studies on the species, its genetic evolutionary history deserves further research. Here, we present a haplotype-resolved assembly of Oolong tea cultivar, Tieguanyin. Analysis allele-specific expression suggests potential mechanism in response to mutation load during long-term clonal propagation. Population genomic analysis using 190 Camellia accessions uncovered independent histories parallel...
Abstract Background Chemosensory systems play key roles in the survival and reproductive success of insects. Insect chemoreception is mediated by two large diverse gene superfamilies, chemoreceptors odorant binding proteins (OBPs). OBPs are believed to transport hydrophobic odorants from environment olfactory receptors. Results We identified a family OBP-like genes silkworm genome characterized their expression using oligonucleotide microarrays. A total forty-four OBP were annotated, number...
C2H2 zinc finger protein transcription factor family members have important biological functions in eukaryotes. They not only bind DNA and RNA, but also interact with proteins. In this study, 118 of the tobacco were identified from N. tabacum genome database by using Pfam, SMART Blastp. The analyses phylogenetic tree, physical chemical properties, chromosomal mapping, gene structures, three-dimensional structures tissue expression patterns performed. results suggested that peptide length...
2-acetyl-1-pyrroline (2AP) is a highly effective volatile compound that gives fragrance to numerous plant species and food. Mutation(s) in the betaine aldehyde dehydrogenase 2 (BADH2) gene results accumulation of 2AP. However, function BADH genes tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.) remains poorly understood. In this study, we successfully obtained four (BADH) from tobacco. Phylogenetic analysis protein sequences showed two were closely related wolfberry (Lycium barbarum) (LbBADH1), so named them...
Teosinte branched1/Cycloidea/proliferating cell factors (TCPs) are plant-specific transcription widely involved in leaf development, flowering, shoot branching, the circadian rhythm, hormone signaling, and stress responses. However, TCP function Brassica juncea var. tumida, tumorous stem mustard, has not yet been reported. This study identified characterized entire family members B. tumida. We 62 BjTCP genes from tumida genome analyzed their phylogenetic relationship, gene structure, protein...
The level of methylesterification alters the functional properties pectin, which is believed to influence plant growth and development. However, mechanisms that regulate demethylesterification remain largely unexplored. Pectin with a high degree produced in Golgi apparatus then transferred primary cell wall where it partially demethylesterified by pectin methylesterases (PMEs). Here, we show Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) seed mucilage, negatively regulated transcription factor ZINC...
As a model plant, mechanisms of the cytoplasmic male sterility/restoration fertility (CMS/Rf) system in tobacco are seldom studied.Using Rf gene sequences from other Solanaceae plants and draft genome Nicotiana benthamiana, degenerate primers were designed to amplify cDNA pool N. tomentosiformis. In total, six possible identified, two which contained basedeletion mutations. The four intact open reading frames, NtomPPR5 harbored 3-pentatricopeptide repeat (PPR) motif deletion.Structure analysis...
Pentatricopeptide repeats (PPRs) genes constitute one of the largest gene families in plants, which play a broad and essential role plant growth development. In this study, protein sequences annotated by tomato (S. lycopersicum L.) genome project were screened with Pfam PPR sequences. A total 471 putative PPR-encoding identified. Based on motifs defined A. thaliana L., structure conserved for each motif analyzed. We also analyzed phylogenetic relationship, subcellular localization,...
Leaf senescence in tobacco is closely related to leaf maturation and secondary metabolites. Bcl-2-associated athanogene (BAG) family members are highly conserved proteins play key roles senescence, growth development, resistance biotic abiotic stresses. Herein, the BAG of was identified characterized. In total, 19 protein candidate genes were divided into two classes, class I comprising NtBAG1a–e , NtBAG3a–b NtBAG4a–c II including NtBAG5a–e NtBAG6a–b NtBAG7 . Genes same subfamily or branch...
Phosphatidylethanolamine-binding protein (PEBP) is widely present in animals, plants, and microorganisms. Plant PEBP genes are mainly involved flowering transition nutritional growth. These have been studied several plants; however, to the best of our knowledge, no studies explored them Brassica juncea var. tumida. This study identified characterized entire gene family tumida.A total 21 were from Through phylogenetic analysis, corresponding proteins classified into following four clusters:...
