We undertook a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study to compare the analgesic efficacy of pre-operative stellate ganglion block on postoperative pain relief after upper limb orthopaedic surgery. Patients were administered 3-ml injection during ultrasound-guided block; 15 patients received lidocaine 2% and 0.9% saline. Following block, all standardised general anaesthesia. Postoperative analgesia included regular intravenous diclofenac, paracetamol patient-controlled with...

Abstract There is a great range in outcomes after mycobacterial infections, and this probably due to individual variation immune responses. One of the key cytokine regulators response interleukin (IL‐) 12. The IL12B gene encodes p40 chain both IL‐12 IL‐23 it has two major variant sites at which different alleles are associated with increased levels expression susceptibility immune‐related diseases. We hypothesized that variants would be as persistent infection. tested hypothesis by...

In this study on North Indian population, MIC‐A5 .1 allele, carrying a premature termination codon transmembrane region, was observed with increased frequency (29.6%, odds ratio OR = 2.1, P 0.00017) patients (40.3%, 3.37, 1. 67E ‐05) than controls (16.7%). Abstract Background Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a complex disease, with involvement of various susceptibility genes. Human leukocyte antigen (HLA) on chromosome 6p21 major region. This study examined genetic association HLA genes T1D. Methods The recruited 259 T1D patients and 706 controls from north India. PCR‐SSP LiPA were used to type Class I II alleles. Results At locus, HLA‐A*02, A*26, B*08 B*50 significantly increased in vs (39.8% 28.9% [Bonferroni‐corrected P { c } = 0.032], 24.7% 9.6% [...

We planned this study to identify diabetogenic glutamic acid decarboxylase (GAD65) peptides possibly responsible for human leucocyte antigen (HLA)-DR3/DQ2-mediated activation of GAD65-specific CD4 T cells in type 1 diabetes (T1D).Top 30 GAD65 peptides, found strongly bind silico with HLA-DR3/DQ2 molecules, were selected and grouped into four pools. The used stimulate subjects 16-h peripheral blood mononuclear cell culture. cells' stimulation terms interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), interleukin...

No significant difference allele or genotype polymorphism was observed, indicating that there is no association between susceptibility HIV infection population.

We have defined three sets of HLA‐DR3 + haplotypes that provide maximum risk type 1 disease development in Indians: (1) a diverse array B8‐DR3 haplotypes, (2) A33‐B58‐DR3 haplotype, and (3) A2‐B50‐DR3 occurring most predominantly this population. Further analysis has revealed extensive diversity particularly at the HLA‐A locus, contrast to single fixed HLA‐A1‐B8‐DR3 haplotype (generally referred as AH8.1) reported Caucasians. However, classical AH8.1 was rare differed from Caucasian...

Selection of an HLA identical donor is a critical pre-requisite for successful hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Most transplant centers utilize blood as the most common source DNA testing. However, obtaining through phlebotomy often challenging in patients with conditions like severe leucopenia or hemophilia, pediatric and elderly patients. We have used simple in-house protocol shown that genotypes obtained on extracted from saliva hair are concordant hence can be selection...
