The development of reagents with high affinity and specificity to small molecules is crucial for the high-throughput detection chemical compounds, such as toxicants or pollutants. Aptamers are short single-stranded (ss) oligonucleotides able recognize target affinity. Here, we report selection ssDNA aptamers that bind Bisphenol A (BPA), an environmental hormone. Using SELEX process, isolated BPA from a 10(15) random library 60 mer ssDNAs. selected bound specifically BPA, but not structurally...

The production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) by cisplatin is one the major mechanisms cisplatin-induced cytotoxicity. We examined preventive effect α-lipoic acid (LA) on toxicity via its antioxidant effects in vitro and ex vivo culture systems. To elucidate mechanism activity LA, NRF2 was inhibited using siRNA, change LA characterized. MTT assays showed that safe at concentrations up to 0.5 mM HEI-OC1 cells had a protective against Intracellular ROS rapidly increased for 48 h. However,...

Abstract Background Particulate matter (PM) can cause various negative acute and chronic diseases of the respiratory system, including upper airways. Curcumin has been reported to have anti-inflammatory anti-oxidative effects; therefore, we investigated effects curcumin on nasal fibroblasts exposed urban PM (UPM). Methods Samples inferior turbinate tissue were obtained from six patients. Flow cytometry was used assess levels reactive oxygen species (ROS) following treatment with UPM and/or...

Interleukin (IL)-9 induces allergic responses; however, the roles of anti-IL-9 antibody in induction tolerance remain unclear. This study investigated effects on oral (OT) a mouse model rhinitis (AR). BALB/c mice were divided into 4 groups: control, AR, OT, and OT with (OT+IL9AB) groups. Ovalbumin (OVA) was used for sensitization challenge. Mice OT+IL9AB groups fed OVA immunotherapy. During immunotherapy, injected antibody. Allergic symptoms, tissue eosinophil counts, serum OVA-specific...

Background Exposure to urban particulate matter (UPM) has been linked aggravation of various health problems. Although the effects UPM on lower respiratory tract have extensively studied, more research is required impact upper and underlying mechanisms. Thus, we investigated cytotoxic cultured human nasal fibroblasts, signaling pathways involved, changes in cytokine levels. Methods Human turbinate tissue specimens were collected during partial turbinectomies performed 6 patients, then...

Background: Eupatilin is an active flavon extracted from the Artemisia species and has properties such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer. We examined effect of eupatilin using fine particulate matter (FPM) human bronchial epithelial cell line (BEAS-2B) to confirm potential a therapeutic agent for respiratory diseases caused by FPM. Methods: Reactive oxygen (ROS) levels were checked flow cytometry identify if FPM affect ROS production. Western blotting was performed mechanism...

Secondary organic aerosol (SOA) from the α-pinene + ozone reaction readily coats TiO2 and CeO2 metal–oxide nanoparticles in smog-chamber experiments under atmospherically relevant conditions. Otherwise identical compared bare coated with poly(acrylic acid) (PAA). The PAA-coated particles result significantly higher new-particle formation rates, suggesting that SOA vapors coat metal oxide more than PAA. After begin to grow via coating, however, all particles, independent of size or presence a...

Background Exposure to urban particulate matter (UPM) has been studied as a cause of various health problems. Although the association between UPM and respiratory tract well studied, further research is required characterize effects on upper tract. We investigated UPM‐induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) production cultured human nasal fibroblasts, protective α‐lipoic acid (ALA) ROS underlying signaling pathways involved in inhibition. Pyroptosis represents a type of cell death mechanism notable for its membrane disruption and the subsequent release proinflammatory cytokines. The Nod-like receptor family pyrin domain containing inflammasome 3 (NLRP3) plays critical role in pyroptosis associated with various diseases resulting from particulate matter (PM) exposure. <p>In the extremes hydrology field, it is essential to find probability distribution model that most appropriate for sample data estimate reasonable quantile. Depending on assumed model, quantile could be estimated with quite different values. The plot correlation coefficient (PPCC) test one of goodness-of-fit tests finding suitable distributions a given sample. PPCC determines whether are acceptable using coefficients between and theoretical quantiles distributions. critical...

Malignant melanoma rarely develops in the paranasal sinuses, and generally has a poor prognosis. However, mucosal can masquerade both clinically histopathologically as benign lesion, rendering accurate early diagnosis difficult. On other hand, angiofibroma, tumor, is more easily diagnosed than melanoma, because former exhibits specific histopathological features. No cases of concurrent angiofibroma have been reported to date. We describe such case below.
