Abstract Numerical weather prediction (NWP) capabilities in the Maritime Continent are not as developed midlatitudes. Countries region do develop their own modelling systems; rather they adapt models primarily for Due to complexity of processes involved region, this adaptation is non‐trivial. In article developments made by Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) and United Kingdom Met Office (UKMO) implement a convective‐scale NWP system short‐range surrounding regions presented. particular,...
Searching for the Neutrinoless Double Beta Decay (NLDBD) is now regarded as topmost promising technique to explore nature of neutrinos after discovery neutrino masses in oscillation experiments. PandaX-III (Particle And Astrophysical Xenon Experiment III) will search NLDBD $^{136}$Xe at China Jin Ping underground Laboratory (CJPL). In first phase experiment, a high pressure gas Time Projection Chamber (TPC) contain 200 kg, 90% enriched operated 10 bar. Fine pitch micro-pattern detector...
Extreme rainfall is one of the primary meteorological hazards in Singapore, as well elsewhere deep tropics, and it can lead to significant local flooding. Since 2013, Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) United Kingdom Met Office (UKMO) have been collaborating develop a convective-scale Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) system, called SINGV. Its aim provide improved weather forecasts for surrounding region, with focus on short-range prediction localized heavy rainfall. This paper provides...
Abstract To improve the wind speed forecasts at turbine locations and hub height, this study develops WRFDA system to assimilate observations measured on nacelle of turbines (hereafter referred as observations) with both 3DVAR 4DVAR algorithms. Results exhibit that developed data assimilation (DA) helps in greatly improving analysis forecast speed. Among three experiments no cycling DA, 2-h 4-h last experiment generates best analysis, averaged (from T + 9 24) over all farms by 32.5% bias...
Abstract Sumatra squalls are important rain-bearing weather systems that affect Singapore and southern Peninsular Malaysia. The performance of forecasts for 63 past squall events is evaluated using a subjective evaluation by forecasters an objective based on the fractions skill score (FSS). purpose this study to investigate whether procedure can reproduce main results evaluation. A convection permitting version Met Office (UKMO) Unified Model (UM), configured limited domain in region South...
This study is to demonstrate an approach investigate the consequence of a hypothetical radionuclide release scenario in Singapore, typical urban setting with high population density. To this end, we made use MACCS 4.1, Gaussian-based atmospheric dispersion model compute peak dose and health effects. We developed meteorological site files from data provided by local government agencies. Our investigation showed that chosen poses very little negligible risk as received across country below...
Dose estimation in the upper air is not studied as much on ground level or boundary layer. However, there a need from stakeholders aviation industry for reasonable of radioactive plume impact at cruising levels. This study aims to provide quantitative dose and how reliable it dispersion processes up seven days. A Lagrangian atmospheric model used estimate quantitively vertical extension radionuclides simplified hypothetical radionuclide release scenarios. Sources different latitudes are...
High-resolution dynamic X-ray detector is crucial for time-resolved digital radiography (DR) imaging and fast 3D medical computed tomography (CT) imaging. Recently, perovskites have become promising alternatives to conventional semi-conductor materials, e.g., Si, a-Se CdTe, direct detection. However, the feasibility of their combination with high-speed pixelated complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) arrays remains unknown. This work originally reports an innovative direct-conversion...
Pulse timing is an important topic in nuclear instrumentation, with far-reaching applications from high energy physics to radiation imaging. While high-speed analog-to-digital converters become more and developed accessible, their potential uses merits detector signal processing are still uncertain, partially due associated algorithms which not fully understood utilized. In this paper, we propose a novel method based on deep learning for analysis of modularized detectors without explicit...

Menopause is characterized by abnormal oestrogen levels. In our preliminary research, we identified that Cistanche deserticola exerts oestrogenic effects, and hypothesized it to be because of its glycoside constituents. this study, orally administered C. total glycosides (CDTG) daily at a dose 1.5 g/kg body weight sexually immature female Kunming mice. The negative positive control groups received equal volumes distilled water diethylstilboestrol solution, respectively. On the fifth day,...
