To investigate the direct relationship of oxidative stress with obesity and insulin resistance in men, we measured plasma levels 8-epi-prostaglandin F2alpha (PGF2alpha) 14 obese 17 nonobese men evaluated their body mass index; fat weight; visceral, sc, total areas, by computed tomography; glucose infusion rate during a euglycemic hyperinsulinemic clamp study. Obese had significantly higher concentrations 8-epi-PGF2alpha than (P < 0.05). The were correlated index (r = 0.408; P 0.05), weight...

The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between visceral adiposity or triglyceride (TG) metabolism and insulin resistance in metabolically obese, normal weight (MONW) Japanese individuals with glucose tolerance. We evaluated body fat areas, lipid profiles, infusion rate (GIR) during a euglycemic-hyperinsulinemic clamp 20 MONW subjects (BMI <25 kg/m(2)and areas 100 cm(2)) tolerance. Abstract Polymicrobial diseases, which can be life threatening, are caused by the presence and interactions of multiple microbes. Peri-implantitis periodontitis representative polymicrobial diseases that show similar clinical symptoms. To establish a means differentiating between them, we compared microbial species functional genes in situ performing metatranscriptomic analyses peri-implantitis samples obtained from same subjects (n = 12 each). OBJECTIVE: It is well known that nitric oxide synthase (NOS) expressed and it modulates glucose transport in skeletal muscles. Recent studies have shown adipose tIssues also express inducible endothelial (eNOS). In the present study, we investigated whether (NO) induces uptake adipocytes, signaling pathway involved NO-stimulated 3T3-L1 adipocytes. METHODS: First, determined expression of eNOS then these cells were treated with NO donor sodium nitroprusside (SNP) and/or insulin,...

Consumption of raw or undercooked poultry products contaminated with Campylobacter has been identified as a risk factor for human campylobacteriosis. We determined whether slaughtering Campylobacter-positive flocks was associated contamination chicken derived from Campylobacter-negative slaughtered at the same abattoir. The presence investigated in 22 broiler farms 1 week prior to slaughter and one abattoir on nine separate days. A total 600 bulk packed were tested, 198 (33.0%) found be...

An experimental model with accelerated but not drastic renal senescence seemed useful to recognize the mechanisms of how kidney function deteriorates age. Senescence marker protein-30 (SMP30), whose expression decreased age and was sex-independent, is mainly expressed in hepatocytes proximal tubular cells. Therefore, we established a SMP30 deficient strain mice C57BL/6 background by gene targeting investigate whether this molecule involved cell senescence. Male knockout (SMP30Y/-) male...

Abstract Plum pox virus (PPV) is one of the most important plant viruses causing serious economic losses. Thus far, strain typing based on definition 10 monophyletic strains with partially differentiable biological properties has been sole approach used for epidemiological characterization PPV. However, elucidating genetic determinants underlying intra‐strain variation among populations or isolates remains a relevant but unexamined aspect epidemiology virus. In this study, complete...
