AimsAvailability of normative reference values for cardiac chamber quantitation is a prerequisite accurate clinical application echocardiography. In this study, we report normal ranges chambers size obtained in large group healthy volunteers accounting gender and age. Echocardiographic data were acquired using state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment following protocols approved by the European Association Cardiovascular Imaging.

AimsReference values for Doppler parameters according to age and gender are recommended the assessment of heart physiology, specifically left ventricular (LV) diastolic function. In this study, we report normal reference ranges obtained in a large group healthy volunteers. Echocardiographic data were acquired using state-of-the-art cardiac ultrasound equipment following acquisition measurement protocols approved by European Association Cardiovascular Imaging.

To obtain the normal ranges for echocardiographic measurements of left atrial (LA) function from a large group healthy volunteers accounting age and gender. A total 371 (median 45 years) subjects were enrolled at 22 collaborating institutions in Normal Reference Ranges Echocardiography (NORRE) study European Association Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI). Left data sets analysed with vendor-independent software (VIS) package allowing homogeneous irrespective equipment used to acquire sets. The...

Availability of normative reference values for cardiac chamber dimensions, volumes, mass, and function is a prerequisite the accurate application echocardiography both clinical research purposes. However, due to lack consistency in current echocardiographic 'reference values', their use decision-making remains questionable. The aim 'Normal Reference Ranges Echocardiography Study (NORRE Study)' obtain set 'normal values' geometry large cohort healthy Caucasian individuals aged over wide range...

We present a case of patient with persistent atrial fibrillation who developed angioedema after 2 months low-dose amiodarone (100 mg daily). Complete resolution was observed 37 days from discontinuation. According to the Naranjo confidence scale, probably cause angioedema. Clinicians should be aware possibility this side effect even therapy.

Background —Residual viable myocardium identified by dobutamine stress after myocardial infarction may act as an unstable substrate for further events such subsequent angina and reinfarction. However, in patients with severe global left ventricular dysfunction, viability might be protective rather than detrimental. The aim of this study was to assess the impact on survival echocardiographically detected medically treated dysfunction evaluated acute uncomplicated infarction. Methods Results...

Background Three-dimensional echocardiography is a promising technique for calculation of left ventricular ejection fraction, because it allows its measurement without geometric assumptions. However, few data exist that study reproducibility and accuracy in patients. Methods Results Twenty-five patients underwent radionuclide angiography three-dimensional used the rotational (2° interval ECG respiratory gating). Left volume fraction were calculated by use Simpson's rule at slice thickness 3...

Two methods are currently available for left atrial (LA) strain measurement by speckle tracking echocardiography, with two different reference timings starting the analysis: QRS (QRS-LASr) and P wave (P-LASr). The aim of MASCOT HIT study was to define which more reproducible, feasible, less time consuming. In 26 expert centers, LA analyzed echocardiographers (young vs senior) in a blinded fashion. population included: healthy subjects, patients arterial hypertension or aortic stenosis (LA...

Background Pharmacological stress echocardiography and myocardial perfusion scintigraphy are used frequently for risk stratification in patients with suspected ischemia. However, their relative prognostic strength has never been explored. Methods Results Two hundred twenty consecutive chest pain (mean age, 60±12 years; 124 men, 115 previous infarction) were studied dobutamine-atropine (ECHO) simultaneous 99m Tc sestamibi single photon emission computed tomography imaging (MIBI).
<title>BACKGROUND</title> The acute effect of hemodialysis (HD) on left ventricular mechanics has been evaluated in several studies, however their results are not consistent. Eventually, the heart and arterial system behave as an interconnected isolated structures; thus, evaluation interaction cardiac contractility with would provide a more comprehensive understanding cardiovascular function energetics. However, there have any studies demonstrating changes terms volumes, contractility,...

ABSTRACT Purpose We sought to evaluate the effect of intensive physical training on left ventricular (LV) hemodynamic forces (HDF) in athletes. Methods Forty professional endurance athletes were evaluated at beginning their cycle (off-season) and after a period aerobic isotonic dynamic exercise (peak period) using cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR). Images analyzed off-line dedicated software. LV HDF for whole different phases measured. Standard statistics used compare off-season peak values....
