The names of all mosses published up to the end August 2011 in countries Mediterranean basin, Macaronesian Islands and Bulgaria are compiled an annotated checklist. list comprises accepted synonyms, provides explanatory annotations for ambiguous disputed names. Mt Etna in Sicily hosts a bryophyte floristic richness of 306 taxa, corresponding to 259 mosses, 43 liverworts, and 4 hornworts. Some interesting mosses discovered at the Laga Mountains in central Apennines are reported. Myurella sibirica, a very rare moss Europe, is rediscovered Italy after more than one century.
