The use of a free-electron laser (FEL) allows the study (non)linear optical properties materials over unsurpassed large spectral intervals. Here we report on application FEL as IR source in spectroscopic infrared-visible sum-frequency generation (SFG). Using extremely wide tunability and high peak power have studied frequency dependence nonlinear susceptibility for gallium phosphide between 20 32 \ensuremath{\mu}m great detail. It is shown that SFG spectrum heavily modified by linear effects.
The thermodynamic temperature of the point inflection melting transition Re-C, Pt-C and Co-C eutectics has been determined to be 2747.84 ± 0.35 K, 2011.43 0.18 K 1597.39 0.13 respectively, freezing Cu 1357.80 0.08 where symbol represents 95% coverage. These results are best consensus estimates obtained from measurements made using various spectroradiometric primary thermometry techniques by nine different national metrology institutes. good agreement between institutes suggests that...
Alcohol-associated hepatitis (AH) is one of the deadliest manifestations alcohol-associated liver disease (ALD) with limited treatment options and a high mortality rate approximately 30% within month following onset acute (Ali et al., 2022; Yamazaki & Schnabl, 2023). Apart from abstinence transplantation, current modalities for AH are restricted to corticosteroid therapy, which only offers minimal survival benefit (Shah 2024, Thursz 2015). Therefore, it significant interest investigate...
There is a gap in our understanding of mechanisms promoting hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and this limits ability to provide targeted therapy interventions for HCC. In HCC samples, NAD-dependent deacetylase sirtuin 2 (SIRT2) levels are increased associated with significantly worse prognosis, but the role SIRT2 hepatocarcinogenesis remains controversial. To assess hepatocarcinogenesis, we used hepatocyte-specific knockout two plasmid overexpression models: MET/CAT AKT/Nras. RNA-sequencing...
We employ the self-dispersive nature of infrared-visible sum-frequency generation at interfaces to record sumfrequency spectra molecular monolayers with a spectral resolution few inverse centimeters, using IR light content approximately 50 cm(-1).
The eutectic alloys rhenium–carbon, platinum–carbon and cobalt–carbon have been proposed as reference standards for thermometry, with temperature uncertainty values specified within the mise en pratique of definition kelvin. These investigated in a collaboration eleven national measurement institutes laboratories. Published results reported point-of-inflection melting curve extremely low uncertainties. However, to be considered it is necessary stipulate what phenomenon value has ascribed to;...
Sum-frequency (SF) spectra of a monolayer thiophenol on silver are reported in the mid and far-IR (infrared). The free-electron laser FELIX was used to reach wavelengths up 54 μm. Molecular vibrations observed at near 10 μm (three modes), 14 (1 mode), 24 mode). appearance different vibrational modes varies dramatically due interference between resonant sum-frequency signal nonresonant from silver. standard model describe line shapes SF is shown be insufficient explain for various
Medical diagnostics and clinical practice rely extensively on test measurement instrumentation. It is therefore of paramount importance that instrumentation provides reliable data sufficient stability, within appropriate limits accuracy. At the same time intended purpose a particular measuring instrument has to be taken into account. The essential problem every it measures indicates basically what appears at input instrument, which might significantly different from real condition measurand....
We show experimentally that the radiation generated in infrared–visible sum-frequency mixing at an air–silver interface can be greatly enhanced when visible input beam excites a surface plasmon–polariton interface. With either prism or grating used to couple with polariton, sum-frequency-generation yield is observed by factor of 102 for and 104 counterpropagating infrared beams. The result configuration simply understood terms field enhancement associated polariton excited beam. For there...
There is an incorrect value in the print issue (volume 25, 3, June 2004). On page 703, 12 lines from bottom, text 'we get error of 3.7 °C' should read as 0.3 °C'. This inaccuracy also appeared full-text online PDF file but was corrected on 28 2004.
Solid-state lighting and display technology are under rapid development. Photometric measurement devices such as imaging systems or tristimulus sensors encounter complex spatial, spectral temporal conditions. Sufficiently large uniform calibration sources required to adequately match the field application facilitate acceptable uncertainties. We present a relatively compact, large-area source employing plate diffusers patterned mask. The is easily configured with colour-selectable,...
The spectral responsivity of Ge photodiodes and thin-film thermopiles has been measured between 1 µm 20 µm. These detectors are used as transfer standards for the measurements made at Nederlands Meetinstituut-Van Swinden Laboratorium (NMi-VSL) monochromator-based cryogenic radiometer facility. For beyond 2.5 we an Ar maxi-arc infrared source in combination with a single-grating monochromator. Below quartz-tungsten-halogen lamp is light conjunction double-grating An optical system based on...
Here we report on an alternative approach for making spectral irradiance measurements of radiation sources traceable, employing our monochromator-based absolute cryogenic radiometer (ACR) facility to its full extent. The method makes use the continuously tunable radiant flux emerging from ACR characterize and calibrate responsivity a second adjacent double-monochromator system. This system will be part new at NMi-VSL, called SIR, that used measure distributions ultraviolet far infrared....
